When is "fog season" in SF, Carmel/Monterey?

Hoping to spend some time mid-October in Carmel and San Francisco. A friend warns that that's a foggy time of year and staying any place with a view-surcharge would be frustrating. True?

Cassandra: Mid October should be fine, often beautiful weather. You will need a sweater or light jacket for the evenings. Don't go out in shorts and t-shirts. The weather is unpredictable. It is summer (June, July to mid-August that brings the fog. A native, joegri

Trying to predict coastal fog is always a crap shoot, but October is one of the better bets for clear weather in SF and Carmel during the year. We almost always have a few weeks of "Indian Summer" during October.

October is not the worst time for fog, in fact, September/October are some of the best months. June & July can be two of the worst months for July. I know that while I lived there for 4 years, I loved September/October.

Anytime that we're not there; we seem to attract the sun, when what we want is cool!

Please tell me your friend is not from CA -- a local would definitely know that generally the very best time of the year weather-wise in SF and along the coast is during Autumn.

It is in the summer that you are almost guaranteed fog and some cold . . . . .
