Gem- congratulations on your move to Santa Monica (i remember the threads when you were making your decision). glad everything is working out for you and family!
I grew up in the area and remember it with great fondness. Then and now, I always felt southern California was the luckiest place for a kid to grow up.

Thank you, Suze. It is so nice to hear from you again. We ended up in a great neighborhood and are making friends and exploring, in between trips to Disneyland. Both my husband and I love it and could stay forever. My daughter is having a little more difficult time adjusting but I think that with time she will love it, too. We are off to the beach today!
Thank you for the tips, MLGB. DCA is a good retreat on those crowded days. We can't wait to go back. Hopefully next weekend!
