When did you first turn on your heat this fall/winter?

I've been living in Florida for 26 years and I don't ever remember going into mid-January without turning on the heat. Last night I went to bed with the ceiling fan running all night long. Something tells me we're going to pay for this in February. Unfortunately, the money I save will go to the higher insurance premiums.

Wally, there are some people who actually believe you are already paying...and I'm not talking about money.

Late November here in Northern CA.

Northern Vermont

Turn on in the mornings mid September just to get the chill out of the house.

Last day I had it on last year, morning May 11 to get the chill out of the house.
I ran out of oil and wood one day early
as it was a chilly morning May 12.

I live in Minneapolis and haven't turned my heat on yet. It's really not that cold yet.

haha I just moved to northeastern Massachusetts in October, and had not had to turn my heat on until last week when the temps dipped down pretty low, around 0.

Looks like we have a couple of Eskimo's on board here. Here in northern Cal we try to wait until Nov 1st,

I live in NYC and haven't turned my heat on yet. I also only closed my windows 3 or 4 times all winter.

I don't remember when we turned on our heat for the first time this season, but we have been running the heat a lot more than usual - temperatures have been unusually cold here in the SF Bay Area. We usually get a couple cold snaps with a couple nights that drop below freezing. This year we have had much more cold weather than usual. Glad we replaced all our windows last year with dual pane - it has been making a huge difference.

Looks like I may turn it on tonight. Forecast is for lows around 40 degrees. The ocean temperature is still 71, so if we get a wind off the ocean, it will be warmer outside than in the house.
