When cruise ships are in Key West...

Here's a link with days/hours that cruise ships will be in KW.

http://www.keywestcity.com/depts/por.../schedule.html

Thanks but did anyone asked?

Why May 3rd, 2002 11:54 AM

Some people are interested in when the ships are there ... why be sarcastic?

If you would read the post "Key West Trip Report" you would see why this post is here. Also, it a good resource for travelers who want to plan their activities around the cruise crowds.

So there there everyday. How do you plan around that? And why would you? Most are only there for the day.

duh May 3rd, 2002 12:15 PM

Because you would chose to do the site-seeing (Hemingway house, light house) on days with less crowds. If you noticed.. Wednesdays there are no cruises coming through. The other days you can relax at the pool/ snorkle/ etc.

The schedule changes all the time. Even on a daily basis. I agree it is nice to plan around them but I was there once when one ship couldn't do its normal route and came into Key West early.

That town has over 6500 hotel rooms. During a busy week one or two ships isn't going to make one bit of difference when you have 20,000 people already visiting. Don't worry so much about planning your trip around them, just go and have a great time.

Schedules change... no way??

Just stay away from the t-shirt shops on Duval during the day and you should be ok. IMO, the worst thing KW ever did was letting those stupid cruise ships dock at Mallory Square....

Thanks for the information. I was able to modify my itinerary for Key West so we won't be there when the cruise ship will.

Ignore the flack from the grouchy people on this site.

Understand that the Carribean Hurricane season starts June 1st. It really messes with the cruise ships schedules. They will change all of the time if there is even a threat of one or if there is a tropical wave in its path. Don't plan your vacation around them.

When is the season over?

hereyou May 7th, 2002 05:47 AM

It goes through the end of November.

I think a lot of the Caribbean Cruise Ships reposition themselves to Alaska during the summer. Check on the cruise board for more info...
