when buy airfare
I am flying multi-city: Tucson to Fairbanks to Ketchikan to Tucson. Right now, fares are about $1500 a tix, round trip. I plan to apply for the Alaska Air credit card for the companion fare.
So, should I buy now, or will fares go down as we get closer to the date - 3 months? Thanks |
crap shoot anyway you look at it. I read an article a couple of days ago that suggest 6-12 weeks out statistically is the best, but that certainly isn't always the case.
You might get a better rate from Phoenix. Would be worth checking. |
Airfares are definitely a crapshoot. Nobody can tell you whether they will go up or down in the next 3 months.
The best advice I've had about airfares: Buy when you are comfortable with the price and then NEVER check the fares again. |
You really want to go to Alaska in December? I'd pick some place warmer myself.
I would also check the fare to Anchorage and driving a rental car to maybe see Denali on the way to Fairbanks. You can also check on a cruise ship from Anchorage with a stop in Ketchikan on the way to Vancouver. |

Thanks. I will check Phoenix too

Whoops. Sorry Tomfuller. I guess I made my post a bit confusing. I am going in June! I meant should I buy 3 months b4, like April 2013 or buy sooner. Rates are about $1000 rt per person. Hoping to get a whole lot cheaper....
