What's your poison?

((I))Okay, I'll give it a try.. I'm not half as clever as Statia, but how about a fall goal? Mine is trying to lose a few lbs. before the holidays so I can then regain them, and getting my book finished.

No imbibing, but what about the rest of you? cheers, J.((D))

P_M Sep 22nd, 2006 06:25 PM

Not imbibing yet. :-)

Good question, as my fall goal just changed today. My goal had been to help DH find a job as he was on layoff notice, but just today we found out he will not be laid off after all. WOOHOO!! So now I am goal-less. I'll think of something else. :-? Hmmmm....

OK I have a new goal. I've been really stressed out lately because I've been working a lot of overtime. This is due to turnover, so we are very busy trying to catch up and train new people at the same time. Additionally I am trying to learn the duties of the people who left so I'm both the teacher and the student.

So my goal is to learn as much as possible, teach as much as possible, and above all stop stressing out about the situation. :-)

matnikstym Sep 22nd, 2006 06:32 PM

wasted away again in Margaritaville. WOOHOO. had goals but forgot them along with where I put the lime.

jetset1 Sep 22nd, 2006 06:34 PM

Sounds like you really deserve your next vacation P_M! What a huge relief that your husband has job security now.

((*))What good news on Friday especially.. J.

gomiki Sep 22nd, 2006 06:52 PM

Champagne...while I try to pack for a trip to MI for a first ever sister weekend. Can't get 5 sweatshirts into a carryon w/my stuff. Plan B. And for a fall goal....need to book a trip. I just need to pull the trigger on something ASAP.

jetset1 Sep 22nd, 2006 06:56 PM

I am so tempted to book a getaway to the desert.. when my other half returns(two weeks), I may do just that.
To me, that is one happy arrangement, no explanations, just see you next week, dinner in the freezer, get the kids to school! Love you, mean it,lol.

AnnMarie_C Sep 23rd, 2006 05:14 AM

Mornin' glories!

Red wine last night...coffee this morning, **yawn**.

My goal this fall is to learn as much Italian as possible before our trip in December. Lesson 1., how to order wine... ;-)

seetheworld Sep 23rd, 2006 05:18 AM

Good Morning!

Earl Grey tea (decaf) is my morning posion.

My Fall goal is to breathe...and count to 10...breathe and count to 10...breathe...

Other than that, I am planning to get my family room back into shape, clean out my office (doing that now), and go apple picking so that I can bake an apple cake. :D

mikemo Sep 23rd, 2006 05:27 AM

Had Seared Asian Tuna using the recipe in Annie's book (very complex and laborious) with '05 Gato Negro Chard (CL)last PM.
Another fiesta-filled w/e with the SanMiguelada (Pamplona-like running with the bulls) and later PM Corrida de Toros in the ring.

Matnikstym_ Isn't it a lost shaker of salt when wasted away in Margaritaville!!? LOL!!! Goin to a Italian festival so lots of wine I would image! Have a great week end all!

kureiff Sep 23rd, 2006 09:57 AM

Checking in from Montana.

Last night's poison was a Smoking Loon Cabernet and it wasn't very good. But my Husband and I drank the whole bottle, anyway.

I hope tonight's poison tastes better.

Goal for fall: Hmm...I don't know. I'd like to lose three pounds, but I'm a little unwilling to do more than I already am.

I think maybe I'm goal-less. Is that a sign of contentment or complacency?

jetset1 Sep 23rd, 2006 10:32 AM

I love you guys reporting in on Saturday morning!

Makes me wonder whether you're just rolling in, sobering up, or starting the weekend now.. have a great day, J.

kureiff Sep 23rd, 2006 10:33 AM

Well, I'm putting in a couple of hours at work and this is a nice distraction between projects. :)

jetset1 Sep 23rd, 2006 10:36 AM

kureiff~ aren't you in Montana?

kureiff Sep 23rd, 2006 10:47 AM

Yes, I live in MT.

annesherrod Sep 23rd, 2006 02:11 PM

I am still feeling the effects of last nights poison. It felt like I was poisoned. Ughh. We drank a bottle of the Santa Margarita Pinot grigio and a beer.
DH and 2 friends listned to a friend who sings and we just shut the bar down...
right now I am enjoying a diet Dr. Pepper!
Tonight - Nadda

sistahlou Sep 23rd, 2006 02:17 PM

Just aint the same without Statia.....

ElendilPickle Sep 23rd, 2006 05:06 PM

Mike, what is the name of Annie's cookbook?

Lee Ann

matnikstym Sep 23rd, 2006 05:59 PM

I'm with annesherrod today, reversed the quantities on the margaritas last night, 3:1 instead of 1:3 and was in bed by 7:30. woke up fine but think water is all it's going to be today.

OldSouthernBelle Sep 23rd, 2006 06:27 PM

Last night it was Limocello at Carraba's. Tonight it is a blend of some red and white wines I have on hand. Why can't I find that perfect blend already in a bottle? I find myself always combining reds and whites.

OldSouthernBelle Sep 23rd, 2006 06:29 PM

Limoncello.

kureiff Sep 23rd, 2006 07:17 PM

Cline Zinfandel this evening. It was very good. We had hamburgers stuffed with arugula pesto and then fries. We copied our french fry recipe from the Everett Street Bistro in Portland, OR. Lots of kosher salt and rosemary.

So tomorrow, I guess we'd better go on a long run to work off the cholesterol. :)

jetset1 Sep 23rd, 2006 08:13 PM

H20 again, but I'm shedding lbs. like a snake finally~ geez, after 2.5 weeks, about time!

mikemo, I'm drooling!!!!

Nora_S Sep 24th, 2006 08:19 AM

kurieff---how do you do the fries with rosemary? Sounds delicious.

kureiff Sep 24th, 2006 10:18 AM

After taking the fries out of the deep fat fryer sprinkle them with kosher salt and then with dried rosemary. They're very good!

mikemo Sep 24th, 2006 10:57 AM

We roast sectioned red potatoes with olive oil, a few tablespoons of roasted chiles, and a bit of sea salt. Reasonably healthy.
M

mikemo Sep 24th, 2006 11:22 AM

Oh, and the fresh Rosemary from our roof herb garden - can't believe I forgot the best part.
M

seetheworld Sep 24th, 2006 01:32 PM

We roast fingerling potatoes the same way. Delicious.
