What's your favorite resort/hotel?

Just curious...what is everyone's favorite resort or hotel in the US and why?

BELLAGIO - In Las Vegas! The combination of restaurants, entertainment, accomodations, and those fountains!

Gosh, that is a toughie.

The Arizona Biltmore, Frank Lloyd Wright design, gorgeous backdrop of mountains, green grass, and desert.

The Delano in South Beach. All that dark wood flanked by those breezy swag things. Great pool. Cool surroundings.

Boca Raton Resort. All that pink and that gorgeous stretch of beach.

The Grove Park Inn, Asheville. What a great place and the beautiful furniture from the arts and crafts movement. Plus the big fireplace.

The St. Regis New York. Just because it is the St. Regis.

There are just so many great places out there! I know I'm leaving out a few. I forgot about Little Palm Island and The Mansion on Turtle Creek.

At what location?
I consider the destination more important than the lodging facility, otherwise I'd just stay home & go to the Desmond or the Sagamore.

rb_traveler,

I used to think the destination was more important than the loding also - until I experienced staying in a bad hotel that almost ruined my vacation and staying in a great hotel that absolutely MADE my vacation.

IMO, the best hotels add to the experience of your vacation. And while they are frequently more expensive, that isn't always the case.

The best so far for me - The Marquesa in Key West. Great location, luxurious room, wonderful pool area.

MY all-time favorite resort in the US is the Ritz Carlton Naples ( on Vanderbilt Beach)---fabulous pool area, great beach, fabulous service--
Just THE best!

And if you can swing it , do the Concierge level floor....

PS- a hint: in the summer the rates are dirt cheap and extrememly affordable!!!!
So if you live somewhere that is hot in the summer and think that Naples would be killer bad, it's not bad at all....

Rather than pay top dollar at a local resort, FLY to Fl and stay at a 5 star resort for the same or less money...cause it is off-season in FLA!!

Forgot to add- my 2nd favorite place is the BELLAGIO in Las Vegas-- overlooking the dancing waters--

Service at this hotel rates supreme!!!
