What's to see/do in Leominster?
Will be in Leominster, Ma. for 4 days the first week of June. Anything special happening? How about good restaurants?
|
What kind of things do you like to do?
Fruitlands Museum in Harvard, MA is about 12 miles East. http://www.fruitlands.org/ Tower Hill Botanic Graden in Boylston, MA, is about 15 miles South. http://www.towerhillbg.org/ Doyle Reservation is right in Leominster. http://www.thetrustees.org/places-to...servation.html If you don't mind driving ~ 25 miles, you can visit Concord/Lexington which easily takes up an entire day. There's the historic stuff to see (a Battle Road walk takes place the first Sat of each month) http://www.nps.gov/mima/index.htm And there's the American literary link in Concord (houses of Nathaniel Hawthrone, Louisa May Alcott, Ralph Waldo Emerson, and Thoreau's Walden Pond) which you can visit. |
For a nice ride and delicious meal take a drive to Barre along some back roads. There is a fabulous restaurant in the center called Picasso, open Wed-Sun. http://www.dineoutpicasso.com/

Hopefully you have a car, because there is very little to do right in Leominster.
Y2K has offered some great suggestions. If natural attractions is what you are after, you are also not far from Mt Wachusett, where you can drive to the summit for a nice view or a hike. Also the Wachusett Meadow Audobon sanctuary is a nice place for a walk: http://www.massaudubon.org/Nature_Co...adow/index.php I'm afraid the area is a restaurant wasteland. There are some decent local places and lots of chains, but nothing particularly notable. Reasonably good, inexpensive Italian, BYOB in nearby Fitchburg: http://www.il-forno.com/Fitchburg.aspx Very good food, fine dining, about 20 minutes away in Princeton http://www.sonoma-princeton.com/ |
Okay, good suggestions, Thanks all.
