What's to do when hubby plays golf at Pebble Beach?

We get to stay in the area in a friend's home. the guys will be playing lots of golf. What's to do locally for those not interested? We are familiar with the coast- what are the must sees in the area. Also the must shops.

Thanks

Diane

You could spend some time strolling the streets of the quaint town of Carmel. The central area around Ocean Avenue has lots of shops, cafes, and galleries. Another option is the Monterey Bay Aquarium along Cannery Row. Fisherman's Wharf is also nice. Plenty of shops and restaurants there as well however, not as upscale as what you will find in Carmel.

At least once, you should have drinks or lunch at the Pebble Beach resort. The views are awesome & the place is (or was when I was there) very elegant.

When my husband played at Spanish Bay, they let me walk 9 holes with the group. The views were breathtaking! After 9 the guys continued and I went to Cannery Row for shopping. It was a lot of fun and I got some great photos of the surf and the guys playing, too. Pebble Beach may have stricter rules, but if you make it known that you are not playing, they may let you do the same.

Pebble beach golf course is spectacular even if you're not playing. If hubby splashes out the $350 for a round, drive the buggy and take photos of the round - I did, it's very memorable!

If hubby is paying that much for a round of golf, you deserve to go shopping!

don't know what area you are from, but we just returned from monterey and the whale watching is still great. you can take a boat tour out, or we saw some from the roads while driving to big sur.

Great ideas! And how about this....

While its a bit of a hike down the coast, if you have all day you'll have plenty of time...
go to San Simeon and tour Hearst Castle. IMO, its nothing like you've ever seen before, EVEN if you've toured castles in Great Britain!
