What's the best month for Surf Contests in Hawaii?

My husband is longing to return to Hawaii to see the big "winter" waves of Hawaii. For some reason I thought Feb & March were the big months, however I have been searching on the internet for the hawaii surf contests and the like I'm not coming up with much and it seems like December is the big month.

Any info or links to the surf contests would be of great help since I'm not finding much. I'm thinking if he wants to go and see these big waves, then we might try to go when there is a contest scheduled as well.

Thanks. T.

November and December. And, as you have found, December is the big month.

We were at the North shore of Oahu in early January and watched a surfing competition. I think it was at the Bonzai Pipeline.

Thanks everyone. I don't think we will be able to get there in December or January, but your help is greatly appreciated.
