What's the best fake tan?
 

Going on vacation next week, white as a sheet...Anyway, does anyone have recommendations for the best artificial self-tanner, with little or no smell? There was a thread here last week about this subject, but I couldn't find it. Thanks!

Clarins available at any department store. Expensive but worth it.

Mary Kay cosmetics makes an awesome one. It sells for $10-12 a tube. <BR><BR>Good stuff!

I have had good luck with Banana Boat brand self-tanners.

Wondering<BR>We have a facility called "Carribian Mist". This is the way it works; a fine spray of the product covers your body while you are in a booth. It costs $25.00 and lasts about 2 wks. You might want to check if there is such a faciliy in your area.

I do something similar to what cd above said; it's called Mystic Tan and it's at Florida Sun Tanning Salons. It's $70 for 5 sessions; $48 for 3 sessions; or $25 for one session. It's something like cd described. I go once a week to keep my "tan" looking nice. I'm very fair, so one session does not last two weeks for me.<BR><BR>I recall on the earlier thread you tried to find that about 3 people recommended Lancome with bronzer. There were more recommendations, but I don't remember which ones were recommended. Maybe others will post with suggestions.<BR><BR>Good luck!

I'm also white as a sheet...I've tried them all and I swear by "Toma Tan" This is the only one I've used that doesn't streak, plus you can see your shade of darkness as you're applying it so you know when to stop. I can only find it at local beauty supply stores (not sold in any deparment stores or drug stores that I'm aware of). Try it, it really is good. Sarah

Suggest you contact a local spa and have them apply it during a massage for you. Whenever I've tried to do it myself I look like a streaky banana. It's the curse of the Irish that we never tan. Last one I had was in Palm Springs and the facialist mixed tanning product with moisturizer. It looked great---for about a week. Good luck

I normally don't use self tanners but wanted to look my best for my wedding. I used a really good one that came highly recommended called Toma Tan. It worked very well for me and it comes with latex gloves so no staining the palms of your hands. Gina

I use Au Courant products and love them. Banana Boat Mousse works well too. sunless.com has great information on products and detailed instructions on how to apply the self tanner. I've been using these products for a few years and am pretty fair. My "tan" only lasts 5 days or so before I need to reapply. I like the ones with bronzer in them since I look really tan right away. I have also heard of Mystic Tan, Mist-On Tan and the latest Fantasy Tan which is more expensive but supposedly lasts longer and wears better (doesn't look speckled when fading). Good Luck!

Try a SPF30 sunblock and go white! Cancer doesn't look good on anybody, and besides a great looking suit on a great looking body is nothing to sneeze at! Try a red suit, or black, be bold be daring! (and be careful of the latex gloves...lots of people are allergic these days and find out the hard way...here's a clue, if eating avocado leaves your tongue tingly...you're allergic to latex! If you MUST bronze still remember the sunscreen! (former sun-worsiper turned "I want to live!"

I believe the posting on this topic that you are all referring to was MY question just before we went to Hawaii, so I remember the answers pretty well (we bought two of them). Interesting that the two most recommended tanners from my post haven't been mentioned on this post: Neutrogena tanning foam and Coppertone Endless Summer. We took both of those to Hawaii, as well as Clarins, which my daughter-in-law gave me. Of course we could have bought any of them there! We bought all three home, only partially used (same with three containers of sun protection). I guess I just overestimated how much we'd need. Oh well, I'm still using it. When I start teaching again in September, I want to look as though I've been somewhere!<BR><BR>The three all seem to work well. I have no trouble spreading them carefully enough to have no streaking. One reason we didn't use more was that my husband refused to use them after the first time when I insisted (he was SOOO white). One problem: I used the Neutrogena on my legs and had no problem, but during our trip I suddenly had a bumpy, itchy back. The only think we could think of that could have caused it was that my husband had applied the Neutrogena to my back.<BR><BR>Of course, you must still apply plenty of sun protection to your skin!
