What's open and fun 24 hours a day in NYC?
I'm coming to NYC and instead of finding a place to stay, we'd rather just stay out all night and morning doing things. It's the city that never sleeps, so what is there to do between midnight and 8am?
Thanks!!! |
Not all night, but part of the night
http://www.bowlmor.com/ Many restaurants open all night. Wo Hop in Chinatown is one. Here's some more ideas http://newyork.citysearch.com/roundu..._new_york.html |
It must be nice being young, lol. Rent a limo between those hours and drive around the city. That's what my youngest son and his friends did for their Prom. :) Have fun.

Go to night court on Centre Street.

The restaurant Maison is open 24/7, the space is lined by a garden and features indoor/outdoor dining areas, a smoking section and the largest (climate-controlled) umbrella in the U.S. If sit under the umbrella you'll have a view of Time Square to the right, and Central Park to the left. 53rd St. & 7th Ave.

You might want to check out these web pages:
nycbestbars, worldsbestbars and also menupages - which lists restaurants and hours. some things open later, but not 24 hrs, you might consider some of these for eating/snacks/drinks/dessert: Via della Pace: 48 E 7th (at 7th and 2nd) - delicious italian, reasonable prices S.E.A. - 2nd between 4th adn 5th: super cheap, good and fast, thai food - but it can take a while to get a table but it's quick eating Pylos - Greek - excellent - 128 E 7th between 1st and A - Boca Chica: 1st and 1st - cuban/spanish flair - quesedilla, enchilada, rice, beans, some good seafood, etc Stromboli at St Marks and 1st which is great for a late night slice of pizza b/c it is open until somewwhere around 4am there is also Crif Dogs - on st Marks between 1st and A - this great hot dog place with every kind of topping you can imagine, which is kind of fun -any kind of hot dogs wrapped in bacon w/ avocado, egg creams, shakes, tater tots, chili dogs, things you'd never imagine - and it is open I think also till somewhere around 4am - , but defnitely into the wee hours as many things are in this area b/c of the college kids - For dessert: there is a place called Chikalicious and it's on 10th st between 1st and 2nd - a dessert "bar" you sit and order desserts = that's all they serve web is www.chikalicious.com - i think they are going to be open until 11:30 or until they sell out - |
Assume you are talking about one day - otherwise - and even so - you might start to become unpleasantly noticeable to your companions and others.
Subways and buses run 24 hours - although on a reduced schedule - so you can ride around all night. The Staten Island ferry runs 24 hours - again, a reduced schedule. There are many restaurants open 24 hours - check menupages.com. You could also hang out at Penn Station, Grand Central or Port Authority - although I have no idea why you would want to. All clubs stay open until 2 am and some until 4am. After that there are after hours places that stay open until the next am (you'll have to find mainly by word of mouth). Shopping is limited to certain chain drugstores (each area has at least one 24 hour store), supermarkets and delis. (Barnes and Noble, Tower Record and a lot of stores downtown are open until midnight or even later). And finally, the entire city is open for walking - from the Brooklyn bridge to Fifth Avenue to any of the neighborhoods. But - depending on where you are and the weather you may be the only ones there. There are also some areas of Central Park where people gather to drink or use drugs all night. Not something I would recommend - but up to you. |
Bars until about 2, then hit a club until 4, karaoke room until 6AM, then a korean restaurant on 32nd street, many are open 24 hours.
This is just several of many things you can do all night. |
