I went by two movie film sets in the last year...one at The Three Bears restaurant in Westport and another at The Bluebird Inn in Easton.
Lots of Actors live in the area too, that might have something to do with it. |
Reservation Road is the movie that was filmed at The Bluebird Inn, I plan on seeing it when it's out, I've had breakfast there many times!
|
Being a movie buff myself, it sure was fun reading about all the movies that are being made in beautiful CT!! I will definitely look into those. I'm also glad to hear that Reservation Road is not out in your area either, since I thought it was only here it hasn't been released yet! The release date for that was Oct 26, I wonder what happened! I can't wait for that one!
Please keep on sharing your stories on CT as I love to hear it:-) |
Schnookies,
As Nina wrote, there are lots of actors (and actresses) that live in Fairfield County. Some are celebrities, like singers, or TOP rock stars. I don't think naming them on this board would be appropriate. I will tell you though they are BIG stars, and enjoy their privacy in Connecticut. From what I've seen and heard, they tend to blend into the local population. BTW, Nina probably knows that "The Three Bears Restaurant" was a popular watering hole for one of the actors. I remember when I worked in Westport: One day, as I walked into a small restaurant and spotted a famous actor seated in his favorite booth. Without me saying a word, the waiter requested (in a low voice) that I do not approach said actor. The other diners acted as though he was just another customer. Network newscasters and Broadway and screen writers live in lower Fairfield County also (close to NYC). A lot of people have been overdramatizing the weather in Connecticut. I haven't checked statistics for 2006 and 2007, but we have had lots of sunshine this year and a mild spring and autumn. And, what's with Suze and all her negative comments about Connecticut? |
I don't know why it is not appropriate to say the famous people who live in CT but I have to divulge this. I grew up around the corner (literally) from Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward, and in 31 years I STILL have not seen them! Of course my parents see them at the Westport Country Playhouse and in other spots around town. But me? Outta luck!
I_am_kane-thanks for the laugh. I was thinking EXACTLY the same thing (neg comments). That's what happens after too much time spent in Mexico, I guess. LKL-come to CT. It's great!! |
Wibs and Suze are right -- it's AWFUL! Don't move here! It's waaaaay too crowded with all the pretentious poseurs anyway. :=)

lisettemac,
Funny! |
Abbey, I go by the Newman's house on North Ave almost every day...and see them all the time. They're very much "regular folk" and I've never seen anyone approach them for an autograph, etc. He's always at the Westport Farmers market, she takes group exercise classes...
Maybe that's a West Coast thing but it's pretty uncool to acknowledge celebrities around here, even though I admit to my knees wobbling when I literally ran smack into Robert Redford about 10 years ago! |
Lisettemac-from how you wrote it "don't come here" it seems you live there? Why so if it sucks so bad????
Nina-you're lucky! I know he's at the Dressing Room a lot now but since I only go back for family visits once a month I haven't had a chance to go there yet. My mom and I used to walk by their house a lot hoping for a peek. |
Abby,
I think lisettemac was "saying" that with tongue-in-cheek...a joke! |
I enjoy reading about all the movies that are being made in beautiful CT. I know what I'm doing this weekend....:-) How about "Christmas in Connecticut"?
Do you think that you can fall in love with a place and know that's what you want to call home after have visited only one time? I actually knew it before visiting. I have a girlfriend in Fairfield and reading about her life there and what she does, made me realize how I want to live my life and what I need to be surrounded by to be happy. There's only one little problem. My hubby doesn't want to move.....So I keep on dreaming in the meantime and come here to visit my new CT pals. Tell me, what would you say are the positive AND negative things about living in CT? |
It's pretty late, so I will just give you a few right now.
Our cities are old, and housing in the larger cities has been neglected. In lower Fairfield County, there just isn't a lot of land left to develop. The dead of winter can sometimes feel like forever. The cost of living the good life is high. At this time of night, that's all I can think of. Catch you tomorrow... |
