Try Tropix in Kapaa on Kauai. They can direct you from there.

In Honolulu, it used to be Hula's Bar and Lei Stand in Waikiki (great music, dancing, atmosphere), but it recently moved to a new location (also in Waikiki). I don't know how the new place is. Let us know. Have fun!

You might want to take a look around Pearl--they've got quite a few catering to the sailors on shore leave.

Yeah, Pearl should be pretty good--the All Hands on Deck grill is popular after about 11 p.m. most nights.

Hula's is still popular, but the old ambience is not there. I think the open air made it! It is now located across the Honolulu Zoo and is pretty packed every night.

Just returned yesterday. Hula's is the perfect place to go after spending the afternoon on Queens Surf Beach. And they had a pretty good crowd most evenings--boy dancers sometimes. Angles is also an open air bar and they had a good and friendly crowd too. We went on their Sunday morning catamaran cruise, and met lots of locals. Did not go next door to Fusion this trip--but have enjoyed their drag shows in the past. The InBetween bar is more locals only and was more low-key. Went to Michangelo's this year for the first time--a locals/tourist mix with the P-10A ("social", sleazy, darkroom) club next door. Alos upstairs is Max's Gym. Everyone says it is a pretty hot place, but I have not been there. That is a synopsis of each club; it really depends on what you are looking for.

is this the new fodors? a whole list of posts and not one nasty one? although i see the editors did remove the funny misguided post here about Amish food. this helpfulness without nastiness makes me happy to be back on fodors.

Well, xxxx this thread has been censored by Fodors, and I for one am glad for it. There were some pretty juvenile posts here a few days ago and bravo to Fodors for removing them without deleting the whole thread.

oh, too bad. I'd been checking here a lot and hadn't seen any bad posts. they must have removed them pretty quick.
