Looks like we all watch the History Channel this past weekend.....corned beef and cabbage is truly sn American dish. Hard to find in Ireland. Don't serve corned beef!

While you have regional BBQ, Creole, TexMex, Hawaiian, Floridian (cubian/florida style) and even yummy Amish meats. For the most part the best American Chefs are serving up food from some place else so Leone is not on a high horse just better fed horse.
Since when is Pizza American?

Kal Feb 5th, 2002 08:06 AM

Ferdi's Special Po Boy, Cent Grocery Muffaletta, Fish Tacos at Dukes, Saimin at Hamura's, Cheeseburger Pizza at Gino's East, Cerviche at Brenneke's....
And meatloaf at Moxie's.

Add to the list:

corn fritters; hash browns; popcorn; the BLT; turkey & dressing; did anyone mention cheesesteak sandwiches?

Later, I've got to go for lunch now!

If you're full yet, get your kids ready for the White House - tours for kids begin February 15. For adults, uncertain. And yes, sprouts and avocado are just the thing to put a spring in your step. All those cheese products, dogs, fried pies (unless peach, of course), and so forth, just clog the system. By the way, ncgirl, I do hope that Brunswick stew is made the correct way - needs to have some chicken and pulled pork in it. I find very few have the right recipe. At its finest, it can be fine indeed. Pizza is not USA - it's international, made differently in every country. I think I'll just stick with my standards on food and wine. Ciao

Oops,

I forgot the veggies--fried okra; black-eyed peas; steamed cabbage with vinegar; turnip greens with chow-chow; green beans seasoned with onion and fatback . . .

x Feb 5th, 2002 08:26 AM

Blueberry pancakes, pecan pie, carrot cake, corndogs, crabcake sandwiches, and chicken wings with a Budweiser.

Elaine Benes Feb 5th, 2002 08:31 AM

A *big* salad.

Vince Feb 5th, 2002 08:32 AM

Well, I am going to start a diet...

linda Feb 5th, 2002 08:43 AM

Kool-Aid! My brother and family live in Norway and his kids always want me to send Kool-Aid because they can't get it there.

Vince Feb 5th, 2002 08:47 AM

What's Kool-Aid ?

L Feb 5th, 2002 08:56 AM

It's something one never drinks on a religious retreat. Ciao

I would go for mango spiced black tea to be found on the west coast or any sophisiticated coffee shop. This is put out by the republic of teas.

linda Feb 5th, 2002 09:01 AM

Vince, are you kidding me? You've never heard of Kool-Aid? It's not actually a food, but a drink. But I listed it since other people mentioned iced tea, Dr. Pepper, and beer.

xxx Feb 5th, 2002 09:14 AM

Linda are you kidding the rest of us he is not from U.S. Give us a break on another post he said he would go to Europe for Asian food. Some patience linda

Has anyone mentioned chili? Definitely an American classic. Always best when washed down with an ice cold Bud (Yes, Bud does have its place in the world.)
