The people who posted negatively on this board re: Southerners bother me, because even though I am not a Southerner (Pennsylvanian) I find the people of the SE U.S. the friendliest anywhere and they are by no means dumb as a doorknob. I go back up north and am disappointment by the lack of friendliness when everyday in the South I get a "Hey" every morning.

William Faulkner and Walker Percy are two of the greatest novelists in American history. Eudora Welty and Flannery O'Connor are greatly respected though I must admit I've never read them. Shelby Foote's landmark multi-volume history of the Civil War rivals Gibbons' Roman histories. Are there any New York City writers who can match these Southerners. Norman Mailer? Hah! And the late Justin Wilson could cook rings around that New Bedfordite Emeril (now of New York).

The reason I like him so much is his great voice and I love big band and the music of that generation (I'm only 37). He is from New Orleans, LA, so I would consider him Southern. Another appealing thing about him is how well groomed and polished he is and he's so unusual and attractive looking with a nice body (not stick thin w/gross long hair), full mouth, great profile, big eyes and clear skin. There is just something about him that is so smooth and appealing.
