There were a few.

Walking through a lush botanical garden on the Big Island and finishing it off with a gorgeous view of the ocean. I loved the many varities of ginger.

The rain in Hawaii.

A huge thunderstorm in Arizona.

Sliding down the Whites Sands of New Mexico.

And then, just yesterday, Christmas Day, we took a hike in Julian, a small town near San Diego.
We stopped in a shady grove and heard a heard a rustle on the rise next to us. It was a herd of 8 deer, so close we could almost touch them.

Now, I know that for many people this isn't such a big deal, you're shooing deer out of your gardens on a regular basis. But we're city slickers, we've been to Julian many times and have seen a deer or two from time to time but never this many at once.

It would have to of been in NYC last month, although it's hard to pick the moment. I'll narrow it down to three:
Seeing Cyrano on Broadway.
Having lunch with my friend at Montparnasse, after not seing him in almost 30 years.
Eating an Ess-aBagel!

The thrill of the Beartooth Highway!

Getting all teary eyed in the car leaving Yellowstone this summer because it was such an awe inspiring trip and I thought "nothing could be this good" ..... and then we turned the corner and the GRAND TETONS came into view. WOW!!!!

..this is a good place to say thanks again to all the fodorites - you've made our travels so enjoyable with all your assistance.

Narrowed it down to two:

1. Bear watching in Anan Creek Alaska. Magnificent scenery, pristine clean air and water, and black bears fishing as they have for time immemorial.

2. Rockefeller Center in December, light snow falling, folks skating, everyone smiling. A lifetime dream come true (and even better sitting in the Sea Grill watching the skaters. A young man proposed to his girl, she freaked out and then said yes. )

Seeing the Grand Canyon for the first time. I put my hand out to "touch" the scenery. It was so unreal, like a picture. I couldn't get my head around what I was witnessing for some time.
