What to wear in Upscale Manhattan Restaurants
I've been to NY quite a few times on my own but I basically lived on cheap cafe food and room service.
This time though I feel like splurging a little bit! I want to try dining in restaurants like Il Mulino and Le Bernardin. So how is a 23 year old guy supposed to dress in such restaurants?
I'll probably be having lunch there since it's probably less formal plus I'd probably feel a little better being on my own.
Thanks a lot!

I would not think of eating at Le Bernardin without coat AND tie, although I think they only require coat. Dark clothes prefered.
Il Mulino? As I recall we wore jackets for dinner and felt a little overdressed althought the waiters wear tuxedos. Be sure to wear expandable pants as the portion sizes are obscene and are the thing that apparently are meant to impress -- in our case the food sure didn't.

If you are going to be dining at Le Bernardin type places, I'd suggest you should add a nice black suit to your wardrobe.
Get yourself a trendier suit that can work equally well with or without a tie.
If you work on Wall Street, you should also have a what we used to morbidly call the "burial suit."
