What to see on (or off) Broadway?
Have an opportunity to spend two nights in NYC late June; would like to see a show Tuesday evening and Wednesday matinee. Not opposed to buying in advance, but also willing to go to the World Trade Center booth on Tuesday morning and take our chances. Any suggestions? We like all sorts of theatre. Many thanks!

So far my favorite, on or off, is Blue Man Group. This also depends on your taste and that of your companions. Also depends on where your from and what shows come to your town. "Rent" is very New York so that might be something good to enjoy while you're there. If you like music and opera, there may be some good shows at the Met or Lincoln Center.

Look into Proof- we loved it and it has won many awards this year. Not sure you would get half price tickets though.

If you check out the website www.newyork.citysearch.com and under search you type in TKTS you will find a daily list of shows that have been on TKTS. While they don't post until about 4:30 in the afternoon, you can kind of trek it to see if your favorite show is popping up on a regular basis(unfortunaely they don't show matinees).

We just saw Proof last week getting great seats (2nd row mezzanine) at the half price booth at World Trade Center. It is a remarkable play and a memorable performance by Mary Louise Parker. Stones in His Pockets is also very enjoyable, more of a story telling with two great Irish actors playing about 15 parts. We also got half price tickets for that. Although we prebought nearly all our tickets (so far 14 shows during this one month stay in NYC), I was surprised that nearlyeverything (except The Producers) was available at the half price booth. I heartily suggest the World Trade Center one where you can go on a Tuesday or Friday and get tickets for both those nights and the next day's matinee.

The booth at the WTC opens at 11am. They get a smaller allocation of tickets than the booth in Times Square so get there as close to 11am as possible. Get there in the afternoon and tickets for some of the shows may not be available.
