What to see on I-95 route in Nov-Dec

Going from Maine to Florida in Nov/Dec of this year and wondering what is to see that time of year with 3 kids (7, 9, 11 years old). Done South of the Boarder, Hershey, Myrtle Beach. Considering NYC, Washington and Williamsburg. Anything else a MUST see????

How long have you got?

I would blast through to DC on the way down and spend a couple of nights. A lot of the best stuff is free, much of it interesting to young people (Smithsonian, Air and Space, American Indian). Then overnight in Savannah, GA.

Coming back, I would stop in Charleston for two nights and Williamsburg for two nights. Both are off 95 but not too far off.

If this is anywhere near Thanksgiving, be aware that I-95 is hell from New Haven to Petersburg, VA.

Don't take 95 through the Carolinas. Go over to Route 17 via I40 and down to Charleston.

I've got some time. 4-5 night going down, about the same coming back. Going to West Virginia on the way back. Williamsburg will be the way down. Doing the Great Wolf Lodge.

IME, Washington is cheaper on weekends, so Thursday through Saturday makes a nice visit.

I have had good luck with Priceline in DC as well, but if this is new to you, it can be risky.

Stay in the city. There are many hotels, not just the name brands, that have suites with kitchenettes so you can feed the brood without breaking the bank.

NYC is not my turf.
