What to see in or near Kennebunkport and Camden, Maine?

In June we will spend two days in Kennebunkport and Camden.
We have never been to either place before. I don't want to miss any of the "best" things.
What are some of the not to miss places in or around these towns?
We will be staying at the Kenneybunkport Inn and at A Little Dream in Camden.

Thanks for any suggestions.
Robbyn

The main "sight" in Kennebunkport is Walker's Point, the vacation residence of Former Pres GHW Bush (the elder Bush).
You can drive by, or take a long scenic walk from Dock Square.

There are several lighthouses within 20-30 minutes north and south of KPT: In York, and in Cape Elizabeth.

Portland (about 30 miles north) is a nice small city with some good shopping, great restaurants and a lovely art museum.
You can also take a ferry ride of the Casco Bay area from Portland.

Thanks so much for your suggestions. We will look for the lighthouses and will take a walk past Walker's Point. TTT for anymore?

You must go to Mt Agamenticus ,get directions from Flo's hot dogs stand on rt 1 York,Great views from the top, will only add a moment's to your trip. this is a short hop from the bridge, get off the toll way before the toll rt 1 north.

My 3 favorite things in the Camden area:

1) Camden Hills State Park, and the view of the entire Penobscot Bay and its islands from the top of Mt. Battle (hike or drive up). Do this first when you get to the Camden area.

2) Monhegan Island, an artist colony which you can get to by taking a ferry from Port Clyde (very near Camden). No cars on the island, so its all walkable. Many artists have their studio at their home, most of which you can visit. Scenery, especially on the ocean side of the island is breathtaking. This would be more or less a whole day trip.

3) If you like art, the Wyeth museum (Farnsworth) in Rockland is quite nice:

Wild blueberry anything would also be on my list (icecream, pies, jams).

Have a Lobster at Alisson's Restaurant in Dock Square, followed by home made Blueberry Pie ala mode.

For a real splurge, dine at the White Barn Inn.

Monhegan is a great choice (I grew up there!) If you love the island check out this site for news, updates, pics and community exchange. I just created it and am looking for new fans! Thanks...

I second tmagyari's suggestions but for June, I'd be looking for a good slice of rhubarb pie. If you want a nice walk, on your way to Camden you could stop off at Maine Coastal Gardens near Boothbay. If you stop in Rockland (the museum is great although DH prefers the Transportation Museum) there is also a nice, short easy hike to Owl's Head Light. Very nice view. There's also a path down to a rocky beach.

You would have to check the map but there is also an out-of-the-way drive past/thru Bay Path Village. It's a community of victorian summer cottages. It makes a nice drive.

Thank you all so much for all the great tips. Now, if someone could give us about 5 more days we could fit them all in. This is the first time we have been to either place. It's a business trip I am taking with my DH and we are extending it by 2 days, for a long weekend.

I think we are going to have to plan another, week long trip back in the fall or next summer. I am so excited about our mini trip. Thanks for all the suggestions, most of them we would not have known about except for you!
Thanks,
Robbyn
