What to see and do between Houston and New Orleans
WE will be visiting USA have never been to the south and are looking for ideas for places to stay and things to see and do between South padre Island and New Orleans.Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

one thing that is interesting between beaumont and houston, just south of I-10, in the spring is a wonderful bird sanctuary. there are other wildlife (birds) viewing opportunities in the winter in south texas.
there is the cajun area around lafayette louisiana if you are interested in learning something about cajun food/music.
there are beautiful planations along the "river road" between baton rouge and new orleans. there are some you can stay in.

I recommend you stop at Oak Alley Plantation, about an hour outside New Orleans:
