What to do in NYC with kids
We are taking two girls, ages 9 and 7 to NYC in December for 4 days. We will be visiting the American Girl place, seeing their show, and seeing the Rockettes. Any other suggestions? Would like to take them to a Broadway show too--they've seen Lion King and Beauty and the Beast. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

New York has a huge number of activities for kids. If you do a search above, there have been many threads on this recently.

American kids? Take them to see the Statue of Liberty, at least by riding on the Staten Island ferry or looking at it from a harbor cruise boat.
The boat ride is fun for the kids, and later they'll get an idea of just how important this statue, and the values it stands for, is. BAK |
Ice skating, the carrousel and a carriage ride in Central Park. A trip to the top of the Empire State Building. Visit the Toys R Us in Times Square with its full size Barbie Dream House, Candy Land Game and Ferris Wheel. If they didn't see The Lion King in NYC it is worth a repeat as it beats any presentation anywhere. Enjoy.

They might like the Forbes Gallery. Despite it's stuffy name, it's full of the toys & games that Malcolm(?) collected as a child. Wooden toy soldiers, ornate model boats & the pre-cursors to Monopoly. It's right in the middle of the village, free-of-charge and practically empty. However, now that I think of it, it may only be open on weekdays. |
