what to do in Miami , Keys and Everglades

Heading to Miami, the Keys and the Everglades in late October and looking for suggestions of things to do. Will be spening plenty of time in beach/pool, but wondering if anyone has suggestions on sites worth seeing, activities, or neighborhoods that should be seen.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Perhaps some additional info would be helpful. Such as how much time do you have ? Do you know where you will be staying ? What are your interests ? The area you are referring to covers several hundred miles of coastline. There are many posts on here re: all the areas you mention. Perhpas do a little homework & return w/some specifics ?

There is tons to do here (I have lived here for 30 years).

Go to the Convention and Visitor Bureau's websites of Ft Lauderdale, Miami and the Keys, They will have a ton of information on what to do.

Some suggestions, An airboat ride, Sawgrass Mills Mall (and take the Kids to WannaDo City), See a Dolphins, Marlins or Panther game.

My favorite thing in Miami is

You can also visit the Venetian pool and the Biltmore in Coconut Grove. http://www.biltmorehotel.com/

Late October in Key West is Fantasy Fest (adults behaving badly) and Meeting of the Minds (Parrotheads behaving badly). You'll likely have a hard time finding lodging there.

From my research for a trip in December, the Venetian pool is closed for repairs.

If you're thinking of doing an airboat tour within Everglades NP, please be aware that these boats are so noisy and so destructive of the natural environment, that they are banned from the NP. You'll have to ride one outside the Park.

I strongly suggest going to the Park and (at least) walking the Aheinga Trail. When done, get a key lime shake at Robert is Here,
www.robertishere.com
outside the Park boundary.

In Key West, we toured the Hemingway House, went to the Mel Fischer treasure museum, did a snorkeling tour, watched the sunset from Mallory Square, and rode the Conch Train. Lots of good places to eat along Duval. If you don't already have a place to stay, we loved the Marquesa. The trip to the Dry Tortugas was recommended to us, but we didn't have time to do it. Have fun!
