What to do in Cincinnatti ?
 

I will be in Cincinnati for a few days and would like some recommendations for things to do. I’m interested in the zoo, the art museum, and maybe a baseball game but any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Cincinnati is a lovely town with lots to do, especially if you are staying downtown. It is always good to see a baseball game in a city you haven't been to a game in just to have a comparsion (I grew up watching games in Riverfront Stadium, which is now Cynergy Field) and although I love the Reds, nothing still has compared to baseball in Camden Yards. Anyway back to Cincinnati, if you like nature, Krohn Conservatory (check out www.cinci-parks.org) Also check out www.cincyusa.com for all kinds of visitor information. Good luck and enjoy!

Is the Robert Mapplethorpe photo exhibition still open? <BR>The Key West guys told me it was worth checking out.

I love Cincy! Check out Jungle Jim's up in Fairfield (a short drive from downtown). Awesome grocery store-type place that isn't duplicated anywhere else. See it online at www.junglejims.com <BR> <BR>Also, be sure to see the Museum Center. Old train station of the 30s, so retro and cool. Has an OmniMax theater in it, museum, kids area, etc. <BR> <BR>The Zoo is really awesome as well. <BR> <BR>I recommend eating at the Precinct, Spazzi, Waterfront, or my all-time favorite, the Maisonette (ranked top class for probably 30 years straight! a total indulgence!). Or, go low key and eat at Burbank's BBQ or check out Macaroni Grill. Yum! <BR> <BR>As you an see, I LOVE visiting Cincy!

We lived in Cincy for over 20 years. It is a great city. The zoo is wonderful,so is the art museum and a baseball game. The Museum Center houses the Natural History Museum and the Historical Society Museum. You can recognize the building as it looks like a giant radio from the 20's or 30's - the architecture is as great to see as the museums. Also check out Finley Market. For restaurants, if you don't want to pay the Maisonette prices go downstairs to La Normandie Grill. Same owners, same sauces, more casual and less pricey. You will have a great time.

Go across the river to Newport/Covington, KY. You won't hear about ANYTHING Ky on the Cincy side and you won't hear ANYTHING Cincy on the Ky side. They could do so much better if they would co-promote. There is a great histroric waterfront district, the World Peace Bell (which is the biggest nothing I've ever seen, but it's kitchy), and The Newport Aquarium is one of the better aquariums in the US. Hotels will be slightly cheaper on the KY side as well with everything from budget to expensive. There are also several good views of Cincy from some hilltop parks in KY. <BR> <BR>Chris is is KY

I am THRILLED with all the suggestions! I will be sure not to miss the Museum Center. When I saw the suggestion for a grocery store, I had my doubts until I looked at their web-site and that is just too unusual to miss. Thanks everybody. I am really looking forward to visiting Cincinnati.

Make sure and spend an evening in Mt. Adams. The nightlife is pretty good and the view is breathtaking. If you're looking for some nightlife on a weekend, checkout the Main Street area in Over-the-Rhine. The Main Street Brewery and the Rhythm and Blues Cafe are especially nice.

What about the Famous Montgomery Inn for ribs. There is a location on the river and in Montgomery about 15 miles north of downtown. There is an amazing glass exhibit in Dayton OH which is about 60 miles north of the city. Also in Dayton is the airforce museum at Wright Patterson Airforce base if you are into aircraft. Personally I think the Maisonnette is very overrated.
