Have you searched this site for Charleston? Both the fodors miniguide and the forum. The search box for the forum is at the top, and Charleston has been covered here quite a bit. I'm sure you'll get many ideas if you search.

Then, if you still have questions and want more info, you can pose them more specifically and get exactly the info you want, rather than generic stuff.

We went on a horse & buggy ride through Charleston which was a lot of fun. It is also a great city for just walking around...with the beautiful homes, gardens & cobblestone streets. Also went on a ghost tour at night. Visited Magnolia Place Plantation House & Gardens. You can also visit Ft. Sumter, which we didn't have time for. We ate one meal at Poogan's Porch, reputed to be haunted, and had lunch at Fast & French, a local diner.
HOpe this helps!

See the tips on my Web site at www.oneeyed.homestead.com.

It depends on how long you are staying and what you like to do, but my general list of top things to do are: walk the historic district - especially from the market to the Battery, take a carriage tour, take a house tour or two (my favorites are the Edmonston-Alston and Nathaniel Russell houses), browse at the market, go to the visitor center first, and spend an hour or two in the Charleston Museum. Even if you are not a fan of grits, and I am not, try some delicious shrimp and grits.

The best shoe store on the East Coast is Bob Ellis on King Street downtown Charleston.

www.BobEllis.com

It has been a Charleston landmark for decades. Very expensive but you will be able to find those Jimmy Choos or Manolos in your size.

I actually live here in Charleston and would be happy to help in any way. Give me a few more details re: your age and interests and I can help w/ suggestions. I work for a band here and created a page on the site for folks visiting Charleston. Here's the link http://www.bluedogs.com/content.asp?...;parentID=2176.
Maybe it will help you a little with your planning. Or, please feel free to email me at [email protected].
