What to do in BOSTON?
 

In Feb, I will be taking my wife and 2 sons to Boston (they have never seen snow). What are some fun things we should check out? Thanks!

Most definately take a "duck" tour. It's a tour of Boston in an amphibious vehicle. You tour on land and in the river, for about 2-3 hours if I recall correctly. <BR><BR>

The Duck Tour would normally be a great suggestion, but they do not operate in February! If you do make it back to Boston in spring/summer/fall, it's a definate must do.<BR>As far as stuff to do, catch a Bruins or Celtics game. Visit the many great museums-the Aquarium, Science Museum, Museum of Fine Arts, Isabella Gardner etc. Take them on tours of local college campuses if your sons are on the "older" side. See what plays will be in town-Blue Man Group would be one the boys will enjoy!<BR>Shopping areas they might enjoy are Harvard Square and Fanieul Hall.<BR>Hope this helps

For kids (older than 5 but under 15) - <BR>Science Museum - really good/fun<BR>Ice skating at the Frog Pond (Boston Common)<BR>Fanuel Hall - shopping/eating<BR>Freedom Trail - cold/outdoors but interesting<BR>Little Italy/North End<BR>Harvard Square

The freedom trail is great, but dress warm. Although, if the kids are young (under 10), they may not appreciate a walking tour inthe cold.

We took our kids (3,6,and8) last summer and had a great time! Their favorites: Blue Man Group, USS Constitution, and Plymouth Plantation (about 45 min. away). We were also on the Cape and went whale watching which they LOVED. I think you can catch trips from Boston as well.

Sorry,the whales have gone south for the winter. They winter off the coast of the Dominican Republic on the East Coast.

For kids that age I would recommend the Children's Museum and the Science Museum. Skating on the Frog Pond at the Common too.<BR><BR> Check out Boston.com for kid activities - during February vacation week there are always lots of events planned. Be forewarned though - it can get somewhat crowded at the Children's Museum during vacation weeks.<BR><BR>If they have never seen snow then I would try to get out of the city and head north. Maybe you could locate somewhere that has sleigh rides (lots of places in NH can't think of any in Mass.) <BR><BR>The children's theater at Wheelock College (on the Riverway) usually has high quality theater productions for a reasonable price.<BR><BR>Enjoy your trip.

Keith<BR>One other thing-definitely utilize the convenient and safe subway system here (the "T"). When I brought be two young children to Boston, one of their favorite things was taking rides on "the train. You can take the Green Line to the Museum of Science stop, which, as the others suggested, is an absolutely great place to spend a morning or afternoon. If you get hungry, there is a mall with a good food court within walking distance (the Cambridgeside Galleria.) Have fun!

Keith - forgot to mention the New England Aquarium. Little kids love this place with its penguins, giant tank with turtles and a big shark and lots of other fish. There's a show with sea lions too. <BR><BR>Also check out Pizzeria Regina in the North End for great pizza in a very casual atmosphere.
