What to do for nine days in Pheonix
 

I will be traveling with my family this winter to Pheonix and will be spending nine days there. What would you recommend would be a nine day itinerary for a family this time of year.

Telephone 1-800-288-7336 and request a free copy of a 70-page color booklet "Experience Sedona" from the Sedona Chamber of Commerce. In it you will find suggested day trips, things to do, places to visit, places you can stay, good restaurants, hikes, etc., etc.

Phoenix, not Pheonix... Please!

Several suggestions: <BR>1. Call the Arizona Office of Tourism (888-520-3434) and ask for its packet of brochures. They're very helpful. <BR>2. There are many excellent Arizona websites. Search the web. <BR>3. Places to visit: <BR>*Certainly, the Southern Rim of the Grand Canyon. <BR>*Take a trip to Tucson for a day or two. Must sees: Sabino Canyon, Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, Old Tucson Studios (for the kids). <BR>*Sedona--see above recommendation. <BR>*In Phoenix--the Heard Museum (probably the best Native American Museum in the country), the Desert Botanical Gardens (though not as good as Tucson's desert museum), Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesen West (for the adults).

Thanks Dale for being up for the task!!! <BR> <BR>As to Phoenix--much depends on when in the winter you are going. Jan in Phoenix can be cool. People are often surprised that it will be a high around 70 (as opposed to south Fla. where it will be 80-85). It is still nice to be in warm weather (speaking as a Northeasterner). <BR> <BR>Sedona is a good idea but one warning. Don't let people tell you to take a detour to the Canyon. They mean well but it is very cold and snowy. I also have family functions in Phoenix/Scottsdale. My uncle took a detour in January and almost got snowed in.
