what to do?
 

Need some advice. My husband and I have already been to, and enjoyed the island of Maui thoroughly. (Stayed at the Ritz...good deal and loved it.) We now have a baby, and are considering another trip to Hawaii to use up my frequent flyer miles. We will travel with our child sometime next year. Ideally, I'd like to get out of Chicago in the winter, but worry about the weather being too cold in Hawaii to lay on the beach. We are considering a condo on Kauai, but are also open to other suggestions. We will be traveling with my sister and her husband and 2 year old. We'd like to be somewhere on or very near the beach, preferably a condo with restaurants/activities nearby. We're not HEAVILY into nightlife, but don't want to be bored at night either. And we would like to be able to do stuff during the day both with and without kids. Is Kauai suitable? Or am I missing out by not seeing the other islands? This will probably be our last trip to Hawaii and island hopping is probably out of the question...going for only 6 nites or so...thanks.

kauai would be an excellent choice, I'd stay in the southern part at that time of year, and yes there is plenty to do. other option would be to stay on oahu, with three or four nights on waikiki and the remainder on the north shore. have a good trip

Go to the big island & stay on the Kona -Kohala Coast side of the island. From there drive to see the volcano, green & black sand beaches, etc. I wouldn't worry about the cold in Hawaii during the winter as much as it's their rainy season. FYI- Kona's pretty much a desert averaging approximately 7 inches of rain a yr.
