what to do
We are going to Hawaii for the first time in November of this year. We will be staying in Kona for one week with friends and then plan to spend six days by ourselves. We are trying to decide whether to go to Oahu or Maui. Rate now we are leaning towards Oahu and staying in Waikiki. I guess another alternative would be to stay on the Big Island.
Does this make sense?, Reasonable trip |
There is alot to see and do on Oahu and Dusty has a few links to many of them I can give a short list. USS Arizona Memorial, USS Missouri battleship and the Bowfin sub. The Punchbowl Memorial of the Pacific.
Aloha Tower and Marketplace, Chinatown, Iolani Palace, Diamond Head Nuuanu Pali Lookout, beaches of the windward side, Laie Point and Polynesian Cultural Center,Northshore. |
my vote would go to maui it just feels more tropical than Oahu. I think with a whole extra week you should visit another island. (my favorite is kauai but it is very sleepy compared to maui and oahu)

Maui is great, but so is Oahu & there's plenty to do there! May I ask your age (generally) and what type things are of interest to you?

With 13 days, you ought to split it up with one other island.
Oahu has more to see & do than any other island. Lots of info including sites with free brochures for all islands: http://fodors.com/forums/threadselec...p;tid=34812564 |
Thanks for the responses. Today we booked a room in the Aqua Waikiki Wave. We were overwhelmed by all of the information and the number of hotels. I hope our stay will be okay
I guess only time will tell |
