What the heck is going on...flooding and snow in the NE?

I got up this morning in Philadelphia to a flooded basement, flooded road and a snowstorm...yikes.

Yup, water in the house here in Boston, too, though just a little. I have a leak somewhere on the east side of the house, that I've been unable to locate. I've checked everything there is to check: the roof, wondows, gutters, eaves, etc. When we get a Nor'easter, I get a leak in the corner of the kitchen ceiling (but not in the rooms above it, go figure) and flooded cabinets to deal with.

It is called "weather" or perhaps "April showers"

Water leaks are the worst, aren't they? I suppose your roofers have already checked all the flashing around your vents on your roof-- that's what caused a leak for us in our new home.

We also recently had to hire landscapers to pull back all the settled dirt (and kill all the plantings, of course) away from our foundation and pack it down tight, use French drains to move water to the yard. It seems the builder didn't pack down that dirt when they backfilled, so it settled over the 15 years and finally caused a leak into our garden-level rec room. And we live in a dry environment-- I feel for you all right now. Good luck with it all.

Yup, that's the reason growing up in New England you always heard two things passed down from generation to generation -

April showers bring May flowers.....

and

sit still long enough and the weather will change
