What The Heck Happened to the "Boyfriend" Post???

Sheesh! I was reading this all day at work between meetings and had my 2 cents to add as well as some questions to ask as soon as I got home and had some free time.

Like - was the "free" flight on the BF's ff miles or the friend's? (The answer to this would have a big difference on my possible response to my hubby if the question came from my DH!) Have never objected to my sweetie taking "guy" trips without me, but would certainly be hurt if he was using his own miles to take a guy trip to see a special place for the first time that he could have saved to do with me. (But would never have made a big deal anyway - because "It is what it is" - deal with it and move on.

And - does "dating" for 10 years mean the Fries have been seeing each other exclusively for this time but not living together and sharing a life? If so, this says way more about the BF's level of personal commitment than any piece of paper could!

I'm deprived! What happened?

I'm curious too. I too had been following it all day. Was it just not "travel-related" enough? Or did someone get nasty?

Maybe ((8))((8))"My boyriend's baaack and there's gonna be trouble....hey laaaa hey laaa my boyfriend's back",

So maybe he can back, there was trouble and "Force Fodor" dumped it?

girlonthego Aug 12th, 2005 05:18 PM

I too was starting to read this post this afternoon and then got sidetracked. I was curious what was going on????

sylvia3 Aug 12th, 2005 05:22 PM

I assumed it was a joke. What about the G. Bush on vacation thread? That disappeared, too.

One has to remember the fodors "editors" are giants boors and anything that stirs up a conversation will be delated. also, they are very al gore-leaning and if the conversation in any way tilts right the fodors fairies will delete it.

Hi saharabee, IIRC the original invite from the friend in Hawaii was for fries' boyfriend and another guy to come visit using FF miles, so they would seem to be the host's miles. FF miles can't be transferred between accounts to combine them, but it's OK to use your miles to buy a ticket for someone else.

saharabee Aug 12th, 2005 05:46 PM

When I logged on tonight, it was there in the list with 67 replies. But when I tried to read them it came back "Done" with a blank screen.

So - I go to bed now and this thread disappears too?

saharabee Aug 12th, 2005 05:51 PM

Anonymous,

I agree - that's what it "seemed" to be - I wanted confirmation. And of course, my own chance to add my brand of psychology to the scenario - LOL!

Now - I still want to know why it disappeared?!

Fodorite018 Aug 12th, 2005 05:54 PM

It was an entertaining post though! Must be something in the air today. On another travel board, a poster whined and got posts removed/threads blocked. Her name was never even mentioned...just her actions, lol! That poster posts here as well, and has quite the list of nicknames amongst readers:D

Last time I saw the thread, it was getting pretty personal and judgmental -- and not just about theOP. It was barely travel-related in the first place, so I can't blame the editors for pulling it once it got into relationship issues.

Nevertheless, one of theses day we'll learn to copy and save these sorts of threads when they start to get "interesting."

beachbum Aug 12th, 2005 07:45 PM

***Any*** that we might recognize, mms?

Fodorite018 Aug 12th, 2005 08:05 PM

Beachbum--Oh, you mean the one with the multiple personalities? Or should I say multiple screen names:D

suze Aug 13th, 2005 07:20 AM

My take is that it was a sincere post from a new poster. It was not travel related and getting waaaay too many replies, is probably what caught the eye of the powers-that-be-here.

It was definitely the most interesting thing happening at my office yesterday -LOL.

iceeu2 Aug 13th, 2005 07:24 AM

mms...give it up....beachbum and I need to know! Multiples...go....

Fodorite018 Aug 13th, 2005 07:25 AM

Beachbum knows who! Reread his post for the ***clue*** :D

OneWanderingJew Aug 13th, 2005 07:45 AM

Icee--Grab a nice glass of wine from the west coast and then email me. I'll fill you in on the **clues** :D

Dang. I was actually working yesterday w/no time to putz around on the computer--sounds like I missed a good post. Poor me :P

suze Aug 13th, 2005 07:50 AM

Yup you did (miss a good one). It was a classic in the making. Darn. Lust, longing, unrequitted love, loneliness, unfulfilled desires, and a Hawaiian vacation!

OneWanderingJew Aug 13th, 2005 07:59 AM

Ahh, Suze. you're killing me! My life is not so sordid and wouldn't mind reading something a bit juicy!

I'm just going to have to work less and play around on Fodors more often--but don't tell my boss!!

seetheworld Aug 13th, 2005 08:01 AM

Oh no, don't start speaking in *code* - that makes some people very angry :D
