What Seattle hotel would be waterfront and close to the ferry?
 

Want to take off from this kind of hotel to ride thru the San Juan Islands to Victoria for a few days stay. Do any of the hotels have airport pick-up service? Thanks.

The state ferries to the San Juans leave from Anacortes.

You need something like the Victoria Clipper, which leaves from Pier 69. It goes to both San Juans and Victoria.

Edgewater is very close to Pier 69. If waterfront is a priority, that's the one.

To clarify an earlier post for others reading this and looking for Bainbridge or Vashon trips, the Edgewater isn't ``very close to all ferries.''

Ferries elsewhere are at from Piers 52 and 50, plus West Seattle. For the Pier 52/50 ferries, the Alexis is probably the best.

Thank you Kathy and repete. The Edgewater is indeed close to Pier 69 where the Victoria Clipper would leave from. It is also close to a couple places I wanted to visit in Seattle, so I thank you both again! The W.S. Ferries do not leave from there so I guess it will be the Victoria Clipper to Victoria and then the BC to Vancouver.

There simply aren't that many true waterfront hotels in Seattle, as the waterfront is mostly industrial. A few blocks in there are certainly many that have views out to the Sound.

And as mentioned there are a couple different ferry terminals spread out in this area, depending on where it is you want to go.

If the OP had asked for a beachfront, you might be right, but the Edgewater is definitely waterfront.

Sorry I misread your post. I thought you wrote ``any'' instead of ``many.''

The Edgewater is the only one. But for the Clipper, it's most convenient, although there are other nearby options with views.

And to answer your question regarding airport pickup, no, except for airport hotels.

If you want to do the trip in reverse, there are several hotels across the street from Lake Union (a freshwater lake in the middle of Seattle) from which you can take a floatplane to the San Juans and/or Victoria. A little more expensive and a lot more fun than the boat. www.kenmoreair.com

There's also the Marriott at the Waterfront. It is across the street from the Edgewater and just a block or so south.

A cab from the airport is approx. $30 to town.

Thanks StormyGirl for including the cab fare, I'm thinking it just might be cheaper to rent a car for a week rather than pay all these cab fares. IF I can secure hotels that do not charge for parking.

I think all the hotels charge for parking. And it definately can get expensive!!

Depending on the hotel you choose there is also the Airport Greyliner bus that makes a loop thru 1/2 dozen main downtown hotels, think it was $8.75 last time I took it.

A car rental might work even paying for hotel parking, as it would give you more freedom going up to the islands (you could consider the Anacortes ferry to San Juans for example).

Love the float plane idea! a coworker who weekends in the San Juans often does that.

Yup, Kenmore Air is a good way to go. Landing on Lake Union in the heart of the city is a trip. You could put together a ferry up/fly down trip very easily.

Great pilots. Some of those piston Beaver planes are some of the best rides around.

cd, the Edgewater is wonderful. We stayed there for three nights and loved every minute of it! :) Try to get a panoramic water view room. The rooms are decorated in PNW style decor with furry bear footstools, teddy bears on the bed, little yellow rubber duckies in the bathromms, lots of homey touches to the room.

The hotel lobby is gorgeous with lots of glass windows to view Elliott Bay. We saw jellyfish swimming under the water from the lobby window which was cool. They also have an excellent restaurant Six Seven where we had yummy breakfasts each am and appetizers out on the small deck over the water.

Service was first-class. You could call and ask the concierge about the airport pick-up. They are very friendly and helpful. ***kim*** ((l))
