Statia, just back from 10 days in CA and my poison keeps arriving via UPS daily! Last night , we enjoyed a 2001 Cuvaison Zinfandel which was awesome. In June, we're heading back to Switzerland for some serious hiking in remote villages, great beer and cheese and hopefully some sunshine.

'81 La Mission. Next week we are traveling to Cincinnati for MIL's 75th birthday. Just got back 3 days ago after a 6 day trip to NYC so we actually are looking forward to a break after this long weekend family trip to rest up before our mid June trip to SF.

Hi Statia, welcome home! Living where you do, you go on vacation, but then you feel like you are going on vacation again when you get back home! Sweet life it is, chica!!
Our normal wines are World Market variety so not worth mentioning, but we had some FUN Friday night when you did this thread. We'd gone to dinner with 3 other couples, two of whom are old friends, the 3rd were new to us, friends of friends. He was seated to my right, and although we were in one of the other couple's restaurant, the man to my right seemed to be in charge of wine selection for all of us. With the first bottle came some serious swirling and sniffing...haha...wanted to look directly at him to watch what was happening, but dared not...caught it all from the corner of my eye. Come to find out he's a serious collector with his own 800 (!!!) bottle wine "cellar". They live in Tampa and are talking about buying a generator, not to keep their house functioning during a power loss from a hurricane, but to keep the wine cellar cool. And cool evening it was...Cakebread Chardonnay to start, then a Cakebread Cabernet, followed by something called Tractor Shed Red...(I've been TSRed ), a Cabernet, then the crown, Silver Oak Cabernet. Phew...sure beats the normal World Market's Fat Ba*tard!! Fun evening, and I was glad it wasn't me getting up for a 7 AM tee time!! LOL
Our next travel is next month, back to Tampa and our boat for some sailing and beach time. I need a water fix!

Tovarich: If you did not get rained on in Seattle you wwere lucky. . Its pretty wet there. In addition to Gevalia, Tschibo and Eduscho are other excellent European coffees, the latter two being German, in case you run across some. Cheers, Larry

Had a Margarita at Sierra Nevada en el Parque Friday PM.
Off to NYC via QRO-MEX-ATL-LGA on Tuesday.
DIL's publisher is having release parties for her new book and we have B'way show tickets for Wed and Sat matinees.
NY Magazine recently named one of her two restaurants (202) "Best Brunch in NY".

Well I do not drink so my poison would be a ice tea. My travel plans will be DH and I leaving on May 16 to Alaska.
We will be driving. Actually I will be doing the driving. My DH is 76 and I am 68. He does not care to drive that far and I love to drive and am very excited for the date to arrive.
We will be leaving Minnesota and driving across the boring state of North Dakota, into Montana as far as Shelby, where we will be taking Hwy 15 into AB. Going as far as Hwy 1 then to Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper. Spending whatever time we feel at anyone of these places. Then across to Hwy 16 to Hwy 22 up to Mayerthorpe,AB. Highway 43 to the BC border and this turns into highway 2. Hwy 2 to Dawson Creek then #97 to Yukon border at Watson Lake and then Hwy 1 straight to Alaska. Arriving Fairbanks on May 30th. Spending a month and leaving June 30 for home.
Have all our reservations and tours confirmed and booked. My DH has relatives in Anchorage and will be spending time with them.
Planing on being back home around the second week of July. Will be driving almost straight through coming back home. By this time we both will just want to get back home in our own beds and see our friends and children.
