What's Your Poison and Where are You Traveling to Next?

Howdy my Fodorite friends. I know I haven't been around much to do the Friday night poison thread with traveling and other commitments lately, but I'm now sitting on my patio with my Orvieto vino in hand, ready to hear my fellow Fodorite's upcoming travel plans.

I am too tired to think of a more interesting question tonight, but we do all love to talk about our travel plans, don't we? So I figured that topic would suffice.

I'm back from Rome and NYC in the space of two and a half weeks (with the Caribbean homefront in between) and I'm actually glad I'll be home for awhile now. Next trip planned for me is near Rotonda, Florida to visit friends in October. They have a rental lake house with pool and hot tub (not to mention a boat) that sleeps eight and want my and DH's families to join us, all at no charge. I think it will be a nice, relaxing party for a week.

So, what's your poison tonight and where are you traveling to next?

I'll have some hot chocolate with a little rum Last couple days it has been beer on the patio, but today it is cloudy and it even rained earlier so I am in the mood for something warm.

Our next trip is a 4 day camping trip just south of Big Sur. Have to wait another month and a half though. This going back to graduate school has really put a damper on my travel plans.

Sauvignon Blanc and Key West. I'm SO looking forward to being in Key West and doing nothing whatsoever but reading, drinking, and eating - not necessarily in that order.

STATIA IS BACK!!!!!!!!! =D>

No more travels for you, bad girl

A bottle of sweet white Italian wine is waiting for me at home "Bianco Riunite"

A month has passed since my last trip, time to dream, to plan, to reserve! 8-)

During Memorial Day - a short trip to South Tahoe. This is a "vacation".

Some time in September maybe Denmark or Iceland or... undecided yet, gotta stop procrastinating! GTG, anyone?

What a fun thread! I am currently sipping a gigantic pint of fresh Belgian ale, homebrewed and kegged by my DH. It is very hoppy with lots of coriander. I have escaped bath duty tonight and I am grateful for that! Actually, I am more like gulping my beer after a long week with the kids.

I am also searching info. for our upcoming trips....we will be spending July-August in Cambridge UK and have planned 2 weekend getaway trips (sans kids) to Berlin and Dublin. First time to Dublin, 2nd time to Berlin but not since 1992, so I am sure it will be very different. This is our 3rd summer in Cambridge--which we love. Very excited!

Sorry, I think I have sipped more of my ale than I thought which makes me even more chatty than usual.

Hi Statia! It's been awhile.

It's my usual VO Manhattan, surprise, surprise. LOL.

I'd rather mention my last trip. It was a blast in Las Vegas last weekend. Shows, booze, fab meals, booze, casino hopping, booze, Hoover Dam, booze, In-N-Out Burger, booze, downtown, booze, Strip, booze, I was lucky to make it back with a liver.

If pressed I'll confess the most memorable part of the "Zumanity" show I saw. Be forewarned!

OK, OK, I'll get on topic. Going to Frankfort, KY tomorrow to see the state capitol. What can I say? I like state capitols and this one is close.

Statia, so nice to "see" you!

I just had a wonderful Chardonnay spritzer with my DH who just returned from a business trip.

My next trip will be tomorrow into NYC to load up on Orchids!!

Getting down to the bottom third of a lovely litre bottle of Glenlivet that a Scots pal brought as his B&B payment some months back. (He overpaid )

Next trip (aside from occasional business flying humdrum) is driving Seattle-LA for son's wedding in July. Then in late August it's Seattle- NY - London - Prague - Johannesburg - Kruger - Durban - Wine Route - Cape Town - Zurich - Prague - London - Seattle.

Statia: I, along with many others, am eager to hear the details of your trip to Rome with your sister and mother.

Tonight I'm enjoying a glass of chilled Sancerre brought back from my trip to Paris last October.

My dear son and his SO will be here in mid-Michigan for a week in June, so I'm busy putting together an itiniary, which includes a few days at the Island House Hotel on Mackinac Island. It will be the first time in over two years that my whole family will be together.

Fun thread.

Enjoying a cold beer as I finish the planning on my Memorial Day trip to Anchorage...with a side trip to Kodiak for the Crab festival. Looking forward to getting back there.

annesherrod, I love Clos du Bois chardonnay!

Howdy, Statia et al! Statia, I hope you get some rest over the weekend.

Tonight's poison is a 2003 Mirassou chardonnay.

My next trip is to Aspen in August to attend figure skating camp. Planning to stay an extra day this year so I can see the Maroon Bells.

Since I'm nursing a severe case of tendonitis in my ankle, I'm downing naproxyn shooters and a Vocodin chaser.

If I had a drink you could probably hear my liver EXPLODE!

I'd say "Good night nurse" but it may take on a whole other meaning on this board.

Wow, we are just a traveling bunch, aren't we?

annesherrod, feel free to pick my brain away on NYC.

Faina, yes...I am a bad girl.

Thanks for the welcome home, Suze.

Enjoy Buenos Aires, Scarlett.

Indy, howdy! Being that my in-laws are no longer in Vegas (although I still have other family there) and I probably won't be making it back any time soon, pray tell, what is the most memorable part of the show? BTW - I was laughing out loud at your "trip report."

seetheworld, have fun picking out orchids!

travgina, it was a most memorable trip for all three of us, even if it did take a day or two to figure out logistics with my mom (and I thought I had every possible base covered). I don't know if I will get around to doing an actual trip report since I never had time to journal ONCE during this particular journey. It was a FABULOUS trip, but also a very different one from my usual travels with looking after my mom and her mobility issues. I did jot down some notes to myself on particular little things I want to continue to relish in the future, though.

AnnMarie, I hope to, but don't know if there will be much time with a barbecue to attend, property to continue clearing, etc. I'm sure I will manage to fit in some R&R, though. After all, I do live in paradise. Or so they say.

I just want to say "welcome" to any of you who are new on the board to enjoy our Friday night poison thread, and I am looking forward to hearing more travel plans. It sounds like you all have some wonderful and exciting trips coming up!

scotch on the rocks during this cool and thankfully rainy day in the valley.

Pigeon Forge next month for USS Trathen
mini reunion. It's under four hundred miles each way, so I can do it on just two tanks of gas.

Welcome back to Statia and her "poison" thread! I had a nice Pinot Grigio at lunch and may just have another here soon.

Short trips coming up include Palm Desert; Bethany Beach, DE; Camping in the Sequoia Nat'l Forest.

The Big One this year will be Germany, Austria, and Italy in August. I am completely out of the loop in the planning of this one, and it is KILLING ME! Our hosts want to show us a good time and are planning what I'm sure is a lovely itinerary (she says hopefully). But how can I go on a 3-week vacation to Europe when the details haven't been obsessed over by me, and vetted by the experts here on Fodor's?

We're kicking around the idea of Africa in 2007 or 2008, and I've already ordered the guidebooks . Gotta direct that travel planning energy somewhere!
