Hi Statia and little Statia! Hey, everyone -- sounds like a party tonight!

Statia, thanks for the good wishes for my exam tomorrow

Well, it's a "dry" night folks -- only H20 - gotta keep those brain cells fresh for tomorrow's exam extravaganza. I know, I'm a kill-joy. But I've got news for you guys, tomorrow night I will be having a party

My favorite travel find, huh? My passion is English china and I was elated to find my discontinued pattern in a little shop in Bermuda. So I bought a few pieces to round out my set. Thinking ahead to the family expanding one day in the very, very far future

Statia, you live in a beautiful place!

OWJ -- sounds like you have been busy on the ole homestead

mms: sorry about the gerbil Are you bouncing on that trampoline yet? I expect a full "trip" report girl!

Lee Ann, Lillet has caught me attention as well. I must go out this weekend and buy a bottle!

Beachbum: Thought of you tonight as it's HS graduation in our village. How's the son doing?

mms: Where in Portugal did you go? My S&BIL have a place in Algarve that we would like to visit. How's the driving in Portugal?

JJ5: Glad to hear you are on the mend.

seetheworld--We are still in limbo on the trampoline. It is on order and the store is not sure just when it will be in. The kids are ANTSY about it, lol! We had really hoped to have it by this weekend since our friends have two little boys...who need to be worn out DS was quite upset about the gerbil...but we still have one. I had hoped to get rid of both of them, but I can't really suggest it just yet. We went to Lisbon, Cascais and Sintra, but we did not drive at all (except riding in a taxi). I think it would be a beautiful place to live. I still remember flying in and seeing the beautiful homes along the river and they just looked like such peaceful places.

Poison: Central air conditioning and lemon seltzer.

Favorite find: Top of my list at the moment is the copper sheep bell on the wooden collar from the little antique store in Delphi.

"Day after day I will walk and I will play....but the day after today I will stop and I will start........oh my mamamama mo my mo.......don't shoot shoot shoot that thing at me!!!!!!" Who knew we were such old hip fodorites Statia. I don't feel a day older than the first time I saw VF's! Tommorow morning I will feel 2 decades older!!! Loved the inspiration to follow my poison of mission figs with proscuitto and a little red! Favorite travel find???Hard one, we always search for a little something to decorate our humble abode that reminds us of where we've been. I am looking at a Kachina we bought on our honeymoon, a healer, which we chose since my fatherinlaw was dying from leukemia. Yeah tonight the Violent Femmes and that Kachina are all I need.....Good Times!

What the heck, I went and picked all my pole beans and Chinese pea pods and am now having an Apple Martini!

Tomorrow a BIG wedding- my life long friend's only child/daughter's wedding.
We will be dancing until after midnight.
Close to home as well. I think it is a general party weekend all over the planet.

That "find" really is a hard question, because I do bring home art on occasion, rare, but I have. From the last 15 years, it is definitely my scuplture, Native American, and I meet the artist. It's in my kitchen breakfront and it makes me feel very peaceful. It is very, very heavy and a pinkish stone, not as red as Sedona. It weighs a ton and had to be shipped.

I have read about the blue beads before. I have beads made out of my Dad's mountain in the Alps. They are a tourmaline that is brownish. His town's main income came from making jewelry during the 18 and 19th centuries.

Thanks for the health wishes! I'm fine, just can't catch anything else from the elderly I care for. Boy, does it take guts and strength to get to 90! You think teen-agers are a challenge. My oldest GD is only 10, but I'm taking her all alone to Wicked soon. She'll love it. She defies gravity already, as she just this month became taller than I am.

Boy, gotta get that girl off the computer. Just kidding. I'm glad she is becoming an eventual "Fodorite." Hopefully our future travels with her will further her adventures.

mms, I can't BELIEVE you knew one of the band members. Wow....that's cool. I've met some great band members from the 80's, but never anyone from The Femmes.

gyppielou, I just about fell over in my chair reading your post. Nothing else needs to be said there.

OWJ, I have to admit that I was tossing up the blue beads and some of my Venice paintings, so I can relate.

Marilyn, yes you can have 3.

Ok, I know I have many more posts to go thru and I thank you all for being so sweet to "Little Statia." But, DH and she are after me to get "off line" so we can go to Smoke Alley to people watch, listen to some music, dance, lime, and have some pistachies. So, I'll catch up tomorrow!

Have a great night everyone!

Ah, might have to say Gwen Mason and NYC, quite a nice find. Poison? I pass. Finding Malbecs from Argentina make a nice substitute these days. Ciao, of course.

I missed the Friday Poison thread. Dang.

I was in Cleveland for the weekend. Went to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on Saturday with friends and their kids. 2 years ago the (then) 12 year old couldn't be dragged to the R&R H of F. Two years of guitar lessons later and he's leading the pack to visit. Go figure.

Tonight's poison (Sunday) is draft Smithwicks beer out of the beer keg refrigerator in the living room. My younger brother loaded it in this weekend so I get to enjoy.

I'm not much of a shopper. In the early 90's I did buy a very large satsumi antique vase in great shape in Quebec City. It was a gift for my mom.

I enjoyed reading these posts!! I was at our local Jazz Festival drinking cheap white wine, but what fun!1

In Wilmington NC I found a jewelry designer in a lillte boutique area and bought the most gorgeous necklace with a beautiful stone surrounded by silver and a pink pearl.... Always get compliments!!!

In Austria - an antique cow bell.

Sorry I missed the Friday and Saturday night fun...finally getting a chance to catch up!

Statia, so glad you and "little Statia" & Dad too are having so much fun with her visit. Her remarks were so heartwarming. I could feel the love!

Poison this weekend...Pink Lemonade & Skye Berry Vodka. Yum! Goes great with painting & gardening & preparing to open your own business (lotsa paperwork!)

Favorite travel find? Mine is a beautiful marquetry box from Sorrento. It's about 5" x 5" contemporary design with light grey & white geometric pattern. I even got to meet the person who hand made it. I keep it on my nightstand with all my "regular" jewelry in it so I can enjoy it every day. Unique Boxes & Containers are always my favorites, with cookbooks a close second.

Statia--Our friends that were visiting this weekend were from our college days. I told my girlfriend that the VF's are popular again and it sure made her smile. Then she started singing the songs! LOL! At that point our dh's were just looking at us, shaking their heads, and laughing.
