Question:
What do you do to an elepahnt with three balls? Answer: Walk him, then pitch to the giraffe. :) |
That's the spirit rjw! Thank goodness neither I nor anyone I know has resorted to knocking people over (albeit with a smile)! We certainly don't mind when you stop to look in a store window/line up one of our architectural masterpieces in your camera/ refer to your street map for the 100th time -- please just MOVE to the side so we can get through! I have swiped many people through the subway -- unfortunately, not out of the goodness of my heart, but simply out of the need to get going.

<<<<<<<<<<
the guy that kept swiping in vain was holding up a line of people behind him who needed to catch the subway to get somewhere. >>>>>>>>>>> Oh, and the long line behind we're obviously relieved and thankful that I offered my card to the unsuccessful swiper. None of them, except the unsuccessful swiper, thanked me for it. I didn't expect them to thank me, anyway. We're all just glad that everybody's on the move. |
Our last trip to NYC found the city to be welcoming, happy to see tourists, very cordial. We had a great trip, even the cab drivers were friendly, and the police were great ambassadors for the city. We had someone step up to us and apologize for the fact that my spouse had to buy a soda to use the restroom in a busy Times Square restaurant (he had an emergency.) People were very concerned about the image projected by NYC. We were impressed and can't wait to return.

Hey, Starrsville---if you're dusting, come to my house! :D
You know, I was once "dissed" by ms nytraveler as "oh. a homeschooler. Now I understand." So I'm rather enjoying her multiple-personality dressing down. Mean of me. I'll bet she sells gloves at Macy's. (Not that there's anything wrong with that, of course.) |
grantop and starrsville, I agree with you. I see it on this board a lot. One person with two or more screen names.
|
I have to agree with minnieno1 Florida has the rudiest people. I am from NY and all the people that have moved here in the last 25 years are rude.
|
alarmist22, did you move to Florida from NY in the last 25 years?
|
Oh baloney! All the rude people lined up and got on a plane to Florida at the same time and things have been rude in Florida ever since LOL
How about people just have less consideration and are less well behaved these days than 25 years ago? |
That's strange. We lived in Florida for 9 years and I met very few rude people, even transplants from New York. I guess I just wasn't looking for rude. :)>-

You guys might be interested to know that yesterdays Sydney Morning Herald referred to a Readers Digest survey to test the courtesy levels of 35 cities around the world. They looked at simple things such as people dropping papers in public, seeing whether people would hold open doors and noting whether shop assistants said " thank you " after a sale etc. Out of the 35 places, New York came out on top!
|
Yes, that survey is what this thread is actually about, Peter. See the link in Scarlett's original post. :)
|
Duh!! Sorry y'all.
|
No need to apologize, Peter . . . the Circle of Life, the Circular Post . . . everything comes 'round to its beginning, eventually! :D
