What not to miss in NYC
We'll be in NYC for 3 days. First trip for two 60 yr olds. Interested in the museums, Ellis Island, Central Park and Shopping, (if my husband will put up with me). What do you New Yorkers think we must not miss??!

The Met
At least one show Top of the Rock Ellis Island Immigration Museum (you see the Statue of Liberty from the boat to Ellis Island - don't wait on line for SOL since you can only get into the base) Walk/explore some of the real neighborhoods: village, lower east side, SoHo, upper west side (all of which have lot of great places to have dinner - in all price ranges, and cafes for just sitting and relaxing) Central Park is enormous - go to the website of the Central Park Conservancy to figure out what part you want to see If you tell us your special interests we can point out will fit best. As for shopping - it depends on what type Macy's and up Fifth Avenue and over to Bloomies for traditional department stores at various price levels Upper Madison Avenue for traditional designer Downtown for trendy - designer and otherwise |
Of all the things I'll remember about trips to NYC it was Ground Zero that left the biggest impression.
I'd HIGHLY recommend the Frick Collection as a great small museum. Have fun! Steve R |
I not a New Yorker, but I just returned from my first visit to that amazion city. The Temple of Dendur at the Met is a must see! Unbelievable. I strongly suggest you walk, walk, walk. We spent the better part of an afternoon walking around the village and then went to the Village Vanguard for a jazz show, and then finished it off with lobster rolls at Pearl's Oyster Bar. What a day! Take your time at Rockefeller Center as there are so many amazing details to marvel at at that place. We did the Top at night, which was spectacular. Some much to do...
