What is your opinion on these hotels?

Has anyone stayed at these hotels? Anything
bad or good about these "basic hotels"?

1. Maui Coast Hotel in Kihei/Maui
2. Sugar Beach Resort in Maui
3. Kauai Coconut Beach Resort
4. Holiday Inn SunSpree Resort Kauai
5. Radisson Kaua Beach Resort (apparently underwent renovation?)
6. Pacific Beach Hotel in Oahu?
7. Also are the Outrigger hotels in Oahu recommended?
Thanks for the advice
we have not stayed at any of these hotels but have visited 2 of them-coconut beach resort and sunspree resort. Coconut beach seemed run down-looked older. beachfront was not good for swimming at all. If swimming isn't important to you, you can get a great rate at the coconut beach with an entertainment card. Sunspree looked newer and had very nice access to good swimming at Lydgate beach park with rocked in pools-very safe. They offer very good internet or car and room deals. Hope this helps some!
The Outrigger hotels and less expensive Ohana hotels are all recommended. Some are a few blocks off the beach and some have different amenties. They each have web sites with pictures and info on each hotel. I've stayed in outriggers before and always been satisifed, in fact we're staying at the Outrigger Reef on the Beach on Oahu in april.

Stayed in the Outrigger Islander and thought it was fine. We spent most of our time away from the hotel. There is so much to do. We didn't rent a car, but rather took tours to Pearl Harbor and the Missouri, and of course the Polynesian Cultural Center. But plan to try Waikiki on the Beach mostly because we enjoyed Duke's and would love to do breakfast there everyday. The buffet was good, but the views were the real lure. Depends on what you are looking for. I called one of the Outriggers directly late one night and talked to someone who made the recommendation for which one to choose.

I have seen some of these hotels, and I will tell you about them. The Maui Coast is a small, quaint hotel, across the street from the beach. The rooms have been renovated recently. Really nice little hotel, would recommend highly. The Sugar Beach is a condo on a nice swimming beach. Since the condos are all privately owned, the decor varies. But overall it is a very reasonable condo, compared to the pricer hotels in the Kaanapali or Wailea area. Concerning the Kauai Coconut Beach, good hotel on the beach, but not on a good swimming beach due the the riptides. In a good location close to the Coconut Plantation, which has shops/restaurants. Pacific Beach hotel, is a very nice hotel, with a big acquarium in the restaurant. It is located across the street from the beach, but with a good view of the beach, since there is no hotel built on the beach, which may block your view. For recommendations in Waikiki, if you don't won't to spend the big bucks to stay on the beach, stay at the Outrigger Waikiki Tower, which is only half a block from the beach. Rooms are clean and nice. Hope this helps.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Sunspree in Kauai in January and it's a bargain. The rooms and pool are clean. The lobby is very nice, open, and the lounge has a good deal on Happy Hour. It's definitely one of the few good deals we've gotten in Hawaii. They offer a discount with AAA.

Sunspree is one of the best values around. It's location is about as convenient as you'll get on Kauai and while not fancy is clean, friendly and comfortable.

Pacific Beach Hotel was a remarkable buy
for a partial ocean view room with a full breakfast buffet each day for around $150 day. The lobby and restaurant areas are very nicely decorated, rooms are nice, not plush, but nice. In room refrige, free sandals, coffeemaker, access to the beach and very close to the park at the
Diamondhead side. We are going back this spring and plan to stay there again.
Hi! I stayed at the Outrigger West on Oahu in 1998. I believe it is now called Ohana Waikiki West. The rooms were clean, staff friendly. Across from the International Market place, on the bus route, two blocks from the beach. If I were to go back, I would definitely stay there. Good Luck!
