what is your favorite national park
we are trying to decide on a summer trip to two or three national parks. last summer we did Zion, Bryce, and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. We especially loved Zion. What other places have people loved and why?
Adirondack State Park in NY State
Mountains, lakes, forests, waterfalls, wonderful, deep dark woods and deer and animals, and not a lot of people and just beautiful...words cannot describe.
I've been to 176 sites administered by the National Parks Service. My top three are Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, and Yosemite. Either the Sierras (Yosemite, Sequoia, Lake Tahoe) or the north Rockies (Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Glacier) would be a wonderful combination trip.
I love Yellowstone, particularly the geysers. One of the most fun things I ever did was to go out about midnight and watch geysers erupt by the light of a full moon. Grand Geyser was just that -- grand. The plume of the geyser shimmering in the moonlight was beautiful.

And Riverside Geyser, although smaller than Grand, was very nice. It is somewhat secluded and the water arches over the Firehole River, which was shimmering in the moonlight.

While standing there waiting for it, a great horned owl started who whooing.
We were able to spot him, outlined against a clear sky. Of course it helps to take your best girl friend along. Helps to make it more romantic, particulary if you have been tuned into that sort of thing for 46 years.
Yellowstone, Tetons, Glacier.

You could either fly in to Kalispell or Missoula, do Glacier, and work your way down and then fly out of Jackson. If you have time, you could drive on down to Salt Lake City where fares would be much cheaper.
Hey hey hey...Jellystone of course! They have all of those gooood pic-a-nic baskets and a real dumb Mr Ranger, sir.
So far, Yosemite, esp. Tioga {sp?] Pass, for breathtaking scenery from roadside pull-offs and uncrowded hiking trails.
I haven't been to some of the others mentioned such as Yosemite, but I can recommend from personal experience a visit to the Pacific Northwest/Seattle to take in both Mt. Ranier and Olympic National Park (which includes the Hoh Rain Forest, coastal areas, etc.). Depending on how much time you have, I would also highly recommend a visit to the San Juan Islands.
Yosemite, but you might as well add Sequoia and King's Canyon if you go.
Yosemite is the most beautiful place on Earth. We also loved Zion and Smoky Mountain National Park. We enjoy hiking and waterfalls so all three thoroughly satisfied us.
I like them all. But I would go back to the Everglades and Biscayne. The Smoky Mtns are close and always good for a quick trip.

The coolest areas administered by the NPS are in and around D.C. The C&O Canal NHP and all the monuments are the best

And even though people make fun of me...I really like Hot Springs, Arkansas.
i would add canyonlands/arches. it is really 3 parks in one in that area. i only scratched the surface last year and hope to go back again in the fall.
