Usually prefer Marriott..DH travelled so many years that we still have unused points and can go great places.
I also like Hamptons and Homewood Suites. Just this weekend got a great priceline rate at an Inter-Continental...May just have to start staying at HI properties for priority club points and to stay at this splendid chain for free! |
I like the Marriott chain overall.
The best high end chain would have to be Four Seasons. |
Had a nice one night stay in a LaQuinta
in Del City, OK and three nights in Olde Town San Diego. Clean, comfotable and a nice CB. Preferance tho is Holiday Inn Express for the same reasons as above plus Priority Club points. We have five free night stays using points on our trip to and from Glacier NP and Canadian Rockies next month. Sta |
My favorite is Motel 6, since I'm afraid of the dark and they leave the light on.
Ok, seriously -- one of my favorites for consistancy has been M6's "cousin", Accor owned Red Roof Inns. They are basic, not even a shampoo is provided, but they're always clean, well maintained, and simple to reserve whether on the website or on the phone. I seem to more frequently stay at other chains, due to location or availability issues, but whenever I'm starting travel plans I always check "the roof" first. |
We stayed at two Holiday Inn Express locations on our trip to/from CA a couple months ago. I was not expecting much, but was actually quite surprised. They were both very nice and the rate includes a continental breakfast. They also have a military discount, which is a bonus for us.

Favorite chains: Marriott, Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton
Absolute least favorite: Hilton |
Favorite Hampton Inns or Suites or the Hilton. Just stayed in downtown Charleston,S.C. Hampton. Arrived our reserved room not ready so we were upgraded to their best room. When my taxi did not arrive one day someone at the desk took me to my desired location. Like the Hampton Inns and Suites at the airport in Costa Rica, also outside Augusta, Ga. Hilton in San Francisco near Union Square. They are consistently good with a good breakfast in the Hampton.

We like the Choice Hotels chain - Comfort Inn, Comfort Suites, Quality Inn, etc. We get a decent room with enough space for the four of us, and many of them include a full breakfast in the morning. Since I try to watch my carb intake, I prefer this to the continental breakfast offered at most chains.

I like Starwood properties:
Westin for their beddings and ginger shampoo. Sheraton is also catching up. Also, even as a basic Starwood Preferred Guest member, no status and no fee to join, I've always gotten the SPG floors (usually higher up). Even when I got the rooms on Priceline or Hotwire. |
Hampton Inn, Amerisuites and Marriott.
