What is your fav restaurant in Dallas?
Well, as you know, I am going. I have family over there, and, no offense, we often argue over where to eat and it can go on for a while. I have my standby favorites that we go to every time I come to visit. I'll list those later if you are interested. But maybe some new eateries would be a good idea...
So, in Dallas, or nearby, what is your favorite all time restuarant and why??? Does not have to be expensive and four star, just good food, nice service, good night out...thanks in advance...

My favorite is Simon's Sushi in Plano. DH & I go there once a month to get our sushi fix. We're picky eaters when it comes to raw fish, as we like plain sashimi most (Sushi rolls, with too many bells and whistles, ie, sauses, hide the flavors of the fish). Simon has the freshest fish in town, and we can tell by the quality of the sashimi. The place is casual, and service is good.

For a special dinner, I'd definitely go to Hotel St Germain for their 8-course dinner. Impeccable white glove service with just fantastic food. A good deal for $85 when you consider how expensive the restaurants in Dallas are.

Other places I like include:
Angela's Bistro 51 in the State-Thomas neighborhood.

Cafe Toulouse in Knox-Henderson has a nice ambience (I really could make myself believe I'm in France), food is average.

I have eaten at Javiers, about 20 years ago and remember it to be a wonderful restaurant. Glad to hear that it is still in business.
Is Chuys a Mexican restaurant? And where is it? I don't know my neighborhoods like I used to...

Well, no one requested, but my favorite standby restaurants are S and D Oyster Bar (great oysters and hush puppies and the best roumelade sauce outside of New Orleans) on McKinney and Sonny Bryans BBQ.
We also love El Fenix cheese enchiladas, but that one is hard to explain. I wouldn't be caught dead in El Fenix when I lived there. Go figure. I also want to try Mariannos this trip, haven't been there in ages. Did you know they invented the frozen margarita machine? Talk about neccisity being the mother of invention.
I have also been fond of the Dixie House and the Black Eyed Pea for southern cuisine (most particularly their chicken fried steak. Since we are from New England originally, no one in my family can make an authentic chicken fried steak)...
But, would be fun to try something new...
I'll be staying in Plano/Addison area, but we will travel for food and drink.
