What is wrong with this site?

Does anyone know what the heck is going on with this site? I thought they shut down this weekend for maintenance?

aggiemom Oct 12th, 2005 07:34 AM

I don't know what's wrong but it's getting frustrating!

Gretchen Oct 12th, 2005 07:35 AM

What are you finding wrong? It was closed a while Saturday--fine now.

Statia Oct 12th, 2005 07:36 AM

I keep getting an "internal server error" message.

CAPH52 Oct 12th, 2005 07:37 AM

I started a thread about this the other day (Maintenance). I haven't been able to get on Fodor's from AOL since Friday night. But I can get on with IE. Others got the "down for maintenance" message on IE. And what the heck is the Bookspan site that I get sent to when I try to get to Fodor's on AOL? It's all very goofy.

Although I can get on either by using IE or by going via google on AOL, I'm having trouble posting this morning.

aileenw Oct 12th, 2005 07:38 AM

i keep getting that too

E Oct 12th, 2005 07:39 AM

I can get in and post without problems, but the darn thing still isn't refreshing properly. New posts aren't reflected in the "Replies" count, and the latest post times are wrong, as is the order of the list. This has been going on for over a week! And no one from Fodor's will address it. Thanks, GoTravel, for raising the issue again.

aileenw Oct 12th, 2005 07:39 AM

The" internal server error" message I mean.

Why not use the FEEDBACK page noted on the homepage of FODORS.com?

You can't expect an editor to monitor this forum 24/7 but you can expect them to read the stuff on the feedback page as it generates a direct message to them.

Along the lines of E's post, I've also noticed (and mentioned on another thread) that when I click on my name some of the posts that come up aren't mine! And some of the ones that I did post on give the wrong date for my posts.

GoTravel Oct 12th, 2005 07:46 AM

On my screen, it is showing that as of 11:44 am, there are only two replies to this thread.

Patrick Oct 12th, 2005 07:52 AM

One thing about the number of threads shown to be posted. Unless you actually post a reply to another thread or leave to another forum and come back, or hit refresh, that number and the times of posts will not update. Since most of the posts were done in the past 8 minutes -- that would explain why it only shows 2 posts.

CAPH, it seems that once I accessed Travel Talk via google.com I have been able to get to the site by just using fodors.com and haven't gotten that Book Span page anymore. Apparently you aren't having problems with that any longer, either.

Statia Oct 12th, 2005 08:01 AM

GoTravel, on my screen it has been showing the correct number of responses. As of 12:00 the total is 12. Very strange.

Statia Oct 12th, 2005 08:02 AM

Freaky...after hitting refresh, my screen now shows 11:46, 10 replies to this thread.

CAPH52 Oct 12th, 2005 08:03 AM

Actually, Statia, that didn't work for me. Oh, I can get to Fodor's through google. But it didn't fix the redirect thing. I still get sent to Bookspan. I know I need to clean my cache and cookies, haven't tried that yet. But, for now, I have to use IE, go through google, or use the log of sites I've been to (clicking on Fodor's on that works). Whatever they did when they put up that maintenance message seems to have really thrown a monkey wrench in the works!

FainaAgain Oct 12th, 2005 11:22 AM

What do you mean "wrong"? It's been wrong for so long, seems normal now...

Stephanie Oct 13th, 2005 02:54 AM

I think it is an AOL thing too. I'm on walmart.com and fodors comes up fine. Anymore I can't even pay my gas bill over AOL, have to go to my other Internet service.

nytraveler Oct 13th, 2005 06:10 AM

Well I have AOL and could never get Fodor's on it - had to go through Internet Exxplorer to be able to post. Since they "fixed" it - it now works perfectly with AOL - but no longer works with Internet Explorer (you click on the post and get the title and a blank place where all the answers should be - and can;t add answers).

Obviously it still needs more work - or a different site structure/server.

Statia Oct 13th, 2005 07:23 AM

I've never used AOL and have still had problems.
