As been said but I will second the vote for the space center. If you haven't been it's pretty great. Also, for something completely different, Ron Jon's claims they are the largest surf shop in the world. I don't doubt it. It used to be open 24/7.

Volcanogirl. Glad we're square on the town names. I was not sure that Indialantic was a town or neighborhood or what. Any way it's a nice area. You are just across the causeway from Melbourne (or at least what I call Melbourne), only a few miles.

The surf shop next to Ron Jon is Cocoa Beach Surf Co. It's right next door and on A1A at the Four Points Sheraton.

Coconuts on the Beach is cool and very casual. It's in downtown Cocoa Beach. A1A and Minutemen Causeway on the beach, of course.

Are you flying into Orlando?

Son and I took the Space Center Tour last summer and enjoyed it.

That all sounds great. What does the Space Center tour involve? We live near NASA in Houston, so I'm wondering how different it is. Does it have a lot of interactive exhibits? Can you view the rockets, etc.?

We love nature - what does the nature drive involve?

Thank you again for all the help.

You'll see lots of rockets in the rocket garden. The space center visitors center has displays (such as the rocket garden), the Astronaut memorial, Imax movies, and the NASA store. It's also where you pick up the bus tour which will take you to the Saturn V center, a complex with exhibits, shows, and one huuuuuuge Saturn rocket. The bus tour also takes you to the Observation Gantry which has good views of the launchpads (and ocean), and the Space Station area where you can see the area where they prepare the components of the station.

There are other separately ticketed tours you can take, as well as a "lunch with an astronaut" program.

The Space Center is part of the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge, which has great opportunities to see wildlife - I like Black Point Wildlife drive the best. Bring water. http://www.fws.gov/merrittisland/Index.html#

Don't miss he Astronaut Hall of Fame. It's FREE w/your paid admission to the Visitor's Center. It's over the bridge by the Police Musum. Fun hands-on area my kids loved, actual capsoles too. Worth seeing while your there.
