best transportation to and from airport and Miami Beach hotel

I am looking for the most efficient (and cheapest) way to get to and from the airport to our hotel on Ocean Drive, for one person and for 2 people traveling together. Is there a particular shuttle service to recommend? When we are 2 people together, is it cheaper to take a taxi? Are there set taxi rates, or is it metered?

Thanks for your input.

I've always rent a car when in Miami Beach so I can't answer your question other than to suggest you call the Concierge of the hotel you will be staying at.

He or she should have all info on how to get to their hotel from the Miami airport and the cost.

FYI: It is about a 35 to 45 minute drive (give or take depending on traffic).

I second Jaya's suggestion to call your concierge - some hotels have shuttle service to and from the airports so you might have that option, also.

I doubt the hotel has an airport service, but calling the concierge is a good idea. But I was also hoping that some of the SoBe/Miami Beach experts would know about the taxi fares and the shuttle companies.

we alwways take a taxi from miami airport to south beach hotels. It isn't a 40 minute drive though, unless you get stuck in traffic-- more like 20 minutes.

I always take a taxi too, I'm not aware of any shuttles. It's about $25 plus tip.

The quickest, most painless way to South Beach is taxi. They recently raised the taxi rates, but it is a flat rate of $32.00 from MIA to South Beach. Super Shuttle rate is $19 per person, so its cheaper by taxi if you are more than one person.
