What is the MUSIC SCENE in LA like currently?
Hi!
My husband and I are relocating to LA next year. What is the music scene like in LA? Where are the indie bands or clubs concentrated in (which areas)? Is there a scene for just about every type of music? Or would you say it is dominated by rock/Latin/hip hop? Is there a scene for dance-electronica or ambient music? THANKS A MILLION! |
There's a scene for everything, everywhere, at all times. Just pick up a (free) copy of L.A. Weekly when you get here and see what you like. Most of the music happens in the Hollywood area, but there are all kinds of clubs all over.

Thanks, Nick!

You can actually check out:
www.laweekly.com www.lamusicscene.com The best neighborhood for indie music is Silverlake and Spaceland is the best, so is Zen Sushi on Hyperion for some weird bands. Clubs for local bands (usually pay to play or "bringer" shows) that have ALL sorts of music with varying degrees of talent are: The Mint/on Pico The Key Club, Viper Room, King King /Sunset Blvd., Troubador (used to be all heavy metal) on Santa Monica Blvd. Derby (for dancing, but may be demolished by the time you arrive)Los Feliz. Cat Club (WeHo) Oh there are a ton... |
