What is the most special restuarant on Maui?
 

My husband will be celebrating his birthday when we are in Maui. I am looking for a special and romantic restaurant with excellent food. What recommendations do you have? We will be staying at the Four Seasons.

We had an excellent dinner at <b>Chez Paul</b>. French, not hawaiian, and it was a cozy place with excellent service too. I know that in HI, most prefer local cuisine, but I thought I would toss this into the mix in case you want something else.

Chez Paul is a great place that has been around for years and does a great job on French food.
Special romantic to me on the islands could be something completely different to you..
Hula Grill in Lahaina with my feet in the sand, watching the sunset at my private table with mai tais and pupu's is pretty hard to beat.
Plantation House at Kapalua is lovely but you are staying in Wailea which is a good hour drive each way.
Mama's Fish House would be a good option or something at the FS.

I love Gerard's in the Plantation Hotel in Lahaina.

Mama's Fish House is very expensive. It might be a good idea to go at lunch. Food and atmosphere are excellent. I agree that Gerard's is very romantic and charming. We've always found the food outstanding.

I have found the food at Hula Grill to be mediocre at best.

I like Mama's for lunch for the view.
Hula grill is average but we've been going for so many years that we have learned to drink and do app's..it has gotten better for dinner.
Never been to Gerard's but sounds wonderful.
Bev's at the General Store is outstanding too.
