wow kiki that was cheap. You don't think that there are any risks with priceline car rentals? Were your fees included in that number trying to wonder what I should bid

Aloha all.
Very bad week in the Casa de Kal but nothing that thinking about Kauai-Polihale won't help get us over it!

Been to Polihale well over 10 times and never used an SUV. The higher SUV may help you going up to Kokee or up around the Sleeping Giant but not really needed.

Drove anything from a 4-cyl Neon to a V-8 LeBaron to Poli without a problem. But we never went off-road other than the sandy paths at the campground and a bit down further.
If you go anytime after a rain, be very careful when going thru a "small puddle" 'cuz while it may be small, it can be DEEP! (Picture Ringo Starr doing a Sir Walter Raleigh in "Hard Days Night".) We were trailing a jacked 4WD local truck after a rain in our Neon. We were making it thru most of the same puddles and thought we could go further until we saw the 4WD truck go down to his axle and scrape bottom, we figured it was time to stop.
Slippery red dirt, too.

If it's been dry, warning to all denture wearers....use extra denture adhesive 'cuz the washboard cane haul road can pop them out!
As for the cheapest, we always seem to dig up either a "fly & drive" or "stay & drive", never have booked rental separately.
Mahalo and 232!

Aloha, Don't think so. Since he was a "local" it looks like he had done it before and just bounced up out of it.
He was boony-crashing and having a lot of fun. We were having fun watching him.

It sure smells good out there after a rain! Ahhhhh.
