I just got back from a sleep late, lay around at the beach vacation and it was just what was needed. We also like to visit foreign countries and take in museums etc. I must say everytime I see one of those Corona beer ads it makes me want to fly to some tropical location and veg out!

I combine the two goals by attending Elderhostel programs. Low stress "learning" usually in the mornings, sometimes with tours and "free" time for relaxing or absorbing local color. Time frame is usually 5,6,7, to 11 days, meals included. Only one of a "couple" has to be 55 yrs old to qualify for the programs. Been on 6
programs, east and west coast and enjoyed them all. Can view their programs on www.elderhostel.org |
I used to like the cultural ones and got wayyyyy to burnt out!! 2 whirlwhind selfguided tours of Europe with way to many hotel switches, museums and cultural trips. For now, I do like my plopping on the beach and soaking my toes in the sand trips. With the rare excursion added. I think this is only now because my life is hectic with small kids, homework, traffic, schedules to keep, meals to eat at a certain time. I am looking for the opposite of that by the time I get a trip for the most part.
BUT when the kids are older and if and when life settles a bit I want to go back to Europe do it a bit slower and really learn and savor where I am!! I think both kinds are great and have a need for both but at different stages of my life if you understand me? |
Both. Your prejudice on vacations is showing, lowell. Vapid question usually gets the answers it deserves. LMF

I'd like to know what happened to the rest of my post! Well, I had gone on to say that by taking the question sincerely, the first responder turned the snarky question into a sincere one. Way to head off silliness Ellen. BYW, I love your name. How is Clark? LMF
