Honda Odyssey van. I love mine. I average 20 mpg in city, about 26+ on the highway. (The EX comes with a flip down DVD player that your kids will LOVE) Sliding doors, magic seat that can be folded down to the floor or turned towards the back which is great for "tailgate parties" or watching kids play soccer, etc. My neighbor bought one after trying mine and he (and family) is thrilled. I think you can get the EX loaded for about $30K or less.

FYI, it's almost impossible to test drive an Odyssey. Most are sold out in advance. I suggest you call all Honda dealers in your area and find one that has one in stock and go right away and test drive it.

I love the Toyota Highlander. I've had friends borrow the car for their long trips. Very comfortable ride and lots of leg room for the 6'4" family members. Check it out.

Mercury Grand Marquis. A recent 5500 round trip to the midwest was a pleasure in it. Adjustable seats and seat backs made it very comfortable. It was nothing to do a nine hour drive. Just set the cruise control and sit back and relax. We also got 26 MPG.
